  1. Don - welcome to FP and the madness. Wonderful looking Grand Am you have. You don't see late 70s / early 80s Pontiacs much anymore, save the Firebirds & Trans Ams. I have a question. In Ontario they tell Newfie jokes. Do you tell Ontario jokes in Newfoundland? Telling Ottawa jokes is a given and understood.
  2. Hey 360, I got my tickets for this weekend's car show too!
  3. Okay - you win. I have a dozen PF24s and PF25s for both Lucy and the Trans Am (Chevy 305 Tuned Port). I certainly don't have anywhere close to that much oil.

So should we start calling you "JUSTA Little Chicken"?

So did I, but I didn't get a Christmas card signed by Mr. Mow-It-All either. BTW - did you talk to or email Carl? JUSTA curious.
  6. You're welcome JUSTA. As Jeanne suggests, we need to keep Jim in our thoughts and our prayers.

That was the third most uncommon thing I've experienced. 1. 1977 - while in high school we were at a meet and a nearby industrial plant exploded (gas leak) - it lit up the sky and then I heard the bang (gotta' love Newtonian physics) 1. 2010 - earthquake in SE Michigan (epicenter was in Ontario) - my chair shook and my PC moved across the conference room table - not something you expect in the Midwest 3. 2017 - Meteor over Michigan
  8. I got this from the Performance Year's forum this morning. It was posted by Old Man Taylor. It would appear that Jim Wanger's health is deteriorating. As many of you know, Jim is considered the Godfather of the GTO and the authority on Pontiac advertising in the Widetrack era. I consider myself fortunate enough hear him lecture, to know him, and converse with him. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=813860&p=5833581&utm_source=threadloom&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ed37&utm_content=iss18 Jim Wangers has had increasing problems with his memory for some time now. Today his Administrative Assistant (really more like a daughter) posted this on the GTO Tiger Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GeeTOTiger/...location=group). "Dear Pontiac Friends and Family, Many of you have heard rumors concerning Jim Wangers and his current health status. Let's set the record straight shall we? Jim was diagnosed with dementia, possibly Alzheimer's Disease, four years ago. Up until this past Fall he seemed to be getting along pretty well. Unfortunately this horrible disease takes no prisoners and that is no longer the case. Jim is currently living in an assisted living facility (soon to move to a Memory-care facility) in Oceanside, CA. He is getting wonderful care, his overall health is good (he still walks unassisted), in no pain and seems to be content. Our office will be closed by January 29th, 2018 as will our website and Facebook page. I have had the honor to work for Jim for almost 20 years and it is hard to see this hideous disease take such a toll on this great mind. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I'd also like to say thank you to the friends I've made during my travels all over this great country following Jim. You opened your arms to a non-car gal and made me feel welcome where ever we went. On behalf of Jim Wangers and the GeeTO Tiger may life bring you love, joy, good health and many GrrrrrrEAT adventures! Jeanne Weiss Assistant to Jim Wangers Jim Wangers Productions, Inc"
  9. Yeah, I think I understand why it was a no sale. Great looking car and lots of custom and one off goodies, but not $150-$175k worth. $100-$125k perhaps.
  10. So how much did the Jim Wangers' Edition GTO go for? I'm guessing six figures since its a one-of-one. Love the 'Dandy' Dick Landy car. Brings back memories. Thanks for the pictures BTW.
  11. This is good news for for Michigan and Ohio. Bringing back the Wagoneer name is an interesting marketing idea. It certainly has some market cachet for us old timers.
  12. I am on board 100% with you Last Indian. The only scenario that I know of that an oil filter can cause an engine failure is really human error. I've seen this happen only twice. On very rare occasions the rubber oil seal ring of the old filter comes off and stays on the engine when the filter is being removed. The mechanic that adds the new filter, not seeing the old o-ring is still on the engine. So it is rubber o-ring to rubber o-ring. Once the engine builds sufficient oil pressure, the seal between the two o-rings blows open and the engine literally pumps out all of its oil, onto the street, thus leading to potential engine damage unless the oil pressure/check engine light comes on quick enough to allow the driver to shut the car down in time.
  13. Good luck with that. We certainly want to see what you have to go thru and encounter. Pictures are always welcome. Just shout if you come up against anything you need help with.
  14. That's kinda how JUSTA and I feel about the CRO Champs these days.
  15. I will admit up front that I am an AC bigot. I worked for AC Spark Plug Division right out of college back in the early 1980s for 11 years, so I knew how they were made, designed and tested. My father was also an engineer and salaried supervisor there for 34 years. So I will agree that my opinion is pretty biased. However, I still use AC filters on my daily drivers since those are spec'd for my GM vehicles. As for my classic cars like Lucy and my '86 Trans Am, I still use AC oil filters but I buy original new old stock AC filters that were made in Flint Michigan. So when I am at a swap meet. I try to purchase any PF24s and PF25s I can. Granted, they are not as cheap as getting a filter at Autozone but I have peace of mind knowing that I am using a quality unit in my classic car.
  16. Good catch Last Indian. If memory serves, the Torrent GXP had a few extra ponies than the stock Torrent and Equinox and it still didn't have rear discs. Food for thought anyway.
  17. Neither has JUSTA or I, nor has anyone bothered to call us. I submitted a write-up to them regarding the Charleston WV show back in October. It has not been posted to the new website either. Not sure what's going these days. Of course if you see Bruce "Mr. Mow-It-All" Kaufman there, tell him we said "Hi".
  18. Yeah, because JUSTA 'bout everyone is carrying a camera with them these.
  19. Hmmm....this is a tough one. I have never tried this swap before, so know that I am shooting from the hip here. I've read but I can't find where I read it that GM did make some subtle changes between the '06 and '07 model year on the rear suspension. I think homework is required here. I would search the Internet first looking for exploded diagrams, pictures, YouTube videos, etc. of your '06 Torrent and the '07 Equinox with rear disc brakes suspensions. GM shop manuals would be an ideal source for this information if you can find them. I would look for any key differences in axle design, upper and lower control arms, shock, anything that might appear to be a major difference that might prevent you mounting it to the Torrent. Clearly the brake components will be different, but that is what you want too. I know that an easy way to put rear disk brakes on a Chevy HHR is to get the entire rear axle assembly (including the disk brakes) out of a supercharged Chevy Cobalt - from a wrecking yard, and then get the proper brake proportioning valve for the SC Cobalt. The Cobalt and HHR are the same platform. Your swap may - may be a similar deal, depending on your research. You may want to get the entire rear axle assembly out of a wrecked '07 Equinox and then get the '07 proportioning valve (for the rear disc brake option). My concern is that the mounting hardware/locations maybe different between disc and drums, necessitating the replacement axle as the starting point. Again, I am shooting from the hip. That's my thoughts anyway.
  20. Here are some spy photos of the C8 Corvette. I am sure the GM brass are ticked to see these photos out. https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1096198_2020-chevrolet-corvette-c8-spy-shots#image=100557643
  21. I'd love to pay Don a personal visit. He and I haven't had a good long conversation since Eric White's funeral. The problem is the wife would expect to come along too! And she wouldn't want to leave either. Are you going to say "Hi" to our pals at Gold Eagle for JUSTA and me?
