  1. scarlit, I found mine on Craigslist for $300 with console included. Some of the restoration Catalogs sell them new for @$500. Best thing to do is order free catalogs from Ames Performance, National Parts Depot, and Original Parts Group INC. I think Year One charges $7 for its catalog but gives you the catalog money back on your first purchase. a quick photo of my his/hers with the Hurst T handle in place.
  2. I too changed my stock 1970 console shifter and added a His/Hers Dualgate with a polished HURST T handle. I might have to look in to that pistol grip set up though, thats badass!!
  3. Nah, last message I got from you was here on July 5th. Nothing that I saw on CRO. Even if it was only 15 minutes I would have made the trip to meet up brother. Glad you got to see the Biltmore House. Its my wifes favorite and I think she has dragged me there more than the Vanderbuilts were there, ha ha. I lived in Hendersonville back in the 90's and loved the weather and scenery. Glad you got back home safe.
  4. Dammit Steve, On one hand I am glad you came down and had a good time but on the other hand I'm a wee bit perturbed that you didn't give me a heads up that you were this close to Tampa and didn't give me a heads up! I had plans of attending the Rod Run this year but backed out at the last minute. I would have immediately changed those plans because its THAT important to me that you and I meet face to face one day, a hardy handshake, and share stories over a frosty beverage. You might just have to be on my Xmas sh*tlist for a few seconds for this sir! Beautiful cars by the way, Glad your son has your taste in fine autos. Yes, still mad!
  5. Professor, excellent advice and I concur, Its not worth it to rush to start her. You got the car at a great value so dont lose that value by rushing and running the risk of expensive damage. Congrats on such an excellent find.
  6. I didnt mean that to come across as a correction bud.
  7. 51Polar White Judges with the WT7 package. I get lucky every once in awhile.
  8. Since it was a no charge alternative appearance scheme that was tied to only one paint color, Polar White, WT7 doesn't appear on PHS shipping invoices or reproduction window invoices. WT7 shows up on build sheets but it varies from plant to plant how it appears. Production totals on WT7 Judges are known but specific breakdowns by plant aren't available. For 1970 they produced 51 WT7 Judges. It was offered again in 1971 but only 15 cars were sold. It would seem strange that the year Pontiac took the trouble to list the WT7 option in their brochures that sales would tank, but that's what happened. For that matter, The Judge model was dropped along with the convertible early before winter was even over. What is the difference between a normal white paint Judge and a WT7 Judge? Good question. Normally the Polar White paint code is matched to a set of eyebrow stripes that are blue, yellow and red in color. The rear spoiler is painted white to match. On a WT7 scheme Judge, the eyebrow stripes are black, red and yellow and the spoiler along with the hood scoops are painted gloss black
  9. Frosty that Polar White GTO COULD come with a black spoiler as a factory installed option. It was rare but it was an option. There is a famous advertising picture that shows the option and if you remember Quint Stires, a regular contributor of High Performance magazine owned one of these factory optioned combos. Ill go see if I can find the advertising pic showing that option in use. "Bigger than the previous year, on the Judge there was a standard rear wing spoiler in body color or (WT7 option) black, gloss black Ram Air hood inlets, and an optional black front-end chin spoiler. The icing on the cake was a wild decal package (even more outlandish than the 1969 Judge), which consisted of psychedelic stripes over each wheel well and Judge logos. For 1970, the Judge could be ordered in any 1970 GTO exterior color along with one non-GTO color. The color was a new Judge exclusive for 1970 called Orbit Orange. The only problem with owning an Orbit Orange Judge was with its wild graphics and bright exterior color it easily garners attention from your friendly law enforcement officer holding a radar gun."
  10. and a car I think I have parked next to at a car show in Tampa.
  11. Its funny Frosty because I just found that out after the fact. It was a bit confusing because they had different tints as well. Not sure which one I needed. I could always use the right stuff once I found out more about that product. Justa, I brought you in purposely to that text so you could see my car as well as the GP. The guy with the GP was the guy who built the GTO's in the John Travolta "Punisher" movie. He does some amazing work and restorations. My other friend Steve on there just ripped out the entire front suspension on his 69 GTO, the light blue one you have seen in pics from me before. You will always be invited to the POntiac paparty.
  12. So my latest project is as the last one a smaller project to keep me engaged until this blazing heat goes away. When I purchased this car and it arrived at my garage, The Brake booster and the master cylinder were painted in Pontiac metallic engine blue. Within 5 minutes of ownership it bugged me enough to go grab a rattle can of a platinum zinc textured paint and quickly make the engine blue go away quickly and temporarily. So flash to this week when I was able to find a semi gloss gold Plasti-Dip that was a close Cadmium gold color and then a can of cast iron gray and I proceeded to mask off, paper off, paint and even use some fine art brushes to detail that whole back corner of the engine compartment that the Booster resides. Its not perfect, Its not cadmium plated but I just cant spend the money right now replacing parts that work perfectly well just because they aren't in the as factory designed finishes. So now between the Master cylinder/booster detailed, and the air cleaner lid project completed I finally feel comfortable posting and sharing some motor Photos of my GTO. There's still a ways to go but this is at least an acceptable jumping off point for me. Enjoy.
  13. unless something is not lining up right in the block bore or crank journal?
  14. awesome car! welcome to the club! The spoiler looks great! Welcome to the GTO winged club!
  15. Scott Tiemann does some amazing restoration work. I hop to one day cross paths with him and one of his restorations.
  16. I was over a friend of mines house today to rummage thru his garage for 70 GTO parts that he no longer wanted and GTO buddy was kind enough to let me hold this very special magazine. This magazine issue is what started the whole muscle car era rolling. To Pontiac car guys, this might as well be the bible. An American car laying the smack down on a top of the line Ferrari? What a ringer this car was and the article put the names of John Delorean and Jim Wangers on the lips of every red blooded American in the 60's. I was truly honored to hold this orignal piece of Pontiac and muscle car history in my hands today.
  17. Love that body style GTO too! Very nice ride ans super rare as well. Welcome!
  18. Sprint 6 is absolutely correct on the PHS info. I spoke with Jim Mattison of Pontiac Historical Services yesterday and ordered my documents and window sticker. Jim is a great bank of Pontiac knowledge and a pleasure to talk with.
  19. Thanks Strat! I appreciate every vote!
  20. I don't have anything to do with FB, Twitter, Instagram, sorry too much trouble and data collecting for me. I've hit up the sites I frequent. Here, PerformanceYears/Ames, Linkdin, and Google+.
  21. Only a few days left and I'm 10 points down! Please vote daily. It's hard to believe that there are more Mercury Cougar lovers out there than Pontiac warriours. http://coolridesonline.net/news-blog/featured-members/ride-of-the-month-june-2016/
