  1. Yeah I noticed that too. I get within 1% and he runs away with it again.
  2. 1 and a 1/2 percent difference gang. That Cougar is going down!!! Thanks to all.
  3. everything is looking the same. If Im putting down those kind of dollars, I want to be unique.
  4. I know that this conversation and an asking for your votes has been carried on inside the chatbox but I wanted to add a thread and thank you all for your votes over the past week and ask that you please consider continuing to vote for my GTO daily. We've made up over 20% age points in just a few short days but want to keep the momentum going. I didnt mention but when I was a new member over at CoolridesOnline they send out care packages of thier products to new members to try. So while voting for the 1970 GTO, check the site out and consider joining. Its a site for all kinds of cars, bikes, jetskis, mowers, anything with a motor. I post this as this information may be useful to members on this site. Here is the latest care package that arrived at my doorstep today, NOT a bad way to join a website! lol:
  5. Yes he is THE Jim Taylor but he is no less famous than the POntiac engine builder Jim Taylor. This is the Racing Jim Taylor that I have had the pleasure to read about and learn about over on the Ames/Performance tech forums for as long as I can remember. Listen to the wisdom this man can pass on! He is a Pontiac legend!
  6. I just hope all you young bucks know just how famous this Old Man Taylor is in the Pontiac world. Like mega famous... Uber famous!! Like IN-famous!!!
  7. The WB 69 is near perfection, a GTOAA multi time winner and in countless magazines. The Orbit Orange is a "LeGoat" but on the road to being a very nice, pro touring "LeJudge" lol.
  8. Its not often we get together like this, rarely do we all have time off or good weather or a million other excuses for not going. I wasn't going to go but I woke up at @7:30 am and went out to the garage to find my wife had backed the GTO out of the garage and was giving the car a top notch detail job. I couldn't let her or her hard work down so I decided to change my mind and make a day of it. We baked like potatoes as the show was scheduled from 11 to 3. Its just so damn hot down here for summer shows and rarely can you find shade in an open parking lot. It was a good time and I'm glad I decided to go.
  9. GOD Bless America and the men who selflessly serve our military to protect this great country of ours. Semper Fidelis! Don't know if this pic gets big enough but "Where is Waldo" (me) is waving from behind the burgundy Avanti.
  10. ...that sometimes can drive you nutz! Ever have a time where you get your car straightened out and she sounds AMAZING!....except....you hear this metallic rattling like something is loose or banging against the exhaust? You've got your ride sounding MEAN! as you cruise thru the car show looking for a spot to park so someone come over and tell you how badass your ride sounds as it shakes the pavement below you only to have someone say, "hey whats that rattle?" You just want to hide under your dash. So a month or so ago I added an H pipe and some 40 series Flowmasters and the sound was as sexy as a big block V8 can purr, BUT a very loud rattle developed and it would cause a slow burn in the pit of my stomach as I searched and searched and scoured the underside of the car with no andwer to be found.....until today! As you may know on long tube headers, the four primary tubes flow down the side of the block towards the back of the engine and "collect" together into one single pipe that connects to the rest of the exhaust going back. Well it seems at some time in this cars life, someone dropped an allen wrench from the top of the engine never to be found until today. there it lay in between the four collected pipes and had wedged itself in silence until a month ago when a simple change was made to ultimately improve the sound of the GTO only to drive me batty for the last 30 days.. A butter knife was used to dislodge the wrench and it has been added to the garage "WTF" drawer in the tool box. THIS is the stuff that starts as frustration and ends in a chuckle and a good story to share with all.
  11. Justa look at her face, It tells the story my friend. First thing she said when she got off was " I wanna go faster"
  12. So no it may not be a P-51 Mustang but it is a WW2 era flying machine. In celebration of my wifes _ _ birthday, I was able to get her a flight around town in a Boeing Stearman trainer biplane and I've attached a YouTube link thats lengthy so you may not want to see the whole thing but it gives you an idea, somewhere towards the middle, the pilots friend comes within wingtips of the biplane and then rolls off to the left. I think at our age, memories are better gifts than "things" Happy Birthday baby
  13. Damn STE, where's the fun in that life ?
  14. So lets make it 2 weeks in a row. My wife makes a much better trophy model than I do.
  15. So today we added our first trophy to the case earned by the GTO. Wasn't expecting it as this car is much more docile than any of the cars I have had in shows in the past. We attended the Oldsmar Days car show in Oldsmar Florida, a very nice 40 minute drive in a cloudless, breezy, 66 degree day. Some of you may know that Oldsmar was developed as a retreat for the Olds mobile family and its a smaller community with tons of automotive history. On Friday they had an Oldsmobile exclusive car show that drew 80+ Oldsmobiles as far away as South America in attendance. The Oldsmobile only parade was cancelled on Saturday due to rain, but today was a beautiful car show day. Here's a pic of the GTO displayed and we took home a "Top 30" trophy. If you notice a playground in the background, thats my beautiful wife having a great time on the swing. lol. Really enjoyed the car and weather today.
  16. Those HRE's are 3 piece units....@ $10K a set! It was rolling on Toyo R88's too.
  17. So a buddy of mine had a 2008 C6 Corvette with an ESC supercharger and a meth kit laying down 641 RWHP and man it was a strong runner for sure. This morning I get a text saying that he sold the C6 and had a surprise to show me. He bought a 2014 Nissan GTR, lightly modified to produce 650 AWHP (thats all wheel HP) and a whopping 620 AWTQ out of a twin turbo V6. I was lucky enough to get a ride in his new whip and it was miles above his C6 and I might as well be driving a smart car in comparison. I was super impressed with both launch control and rolling launch control. For you drag racers out there, its much like a trans brake. The brakes yank the car down hard enough to pull fillings out of your teeth. I never understood the name "GODZILLA" for this car but it is clear as day to me now. It was an amazing experience to say the least. Its already been down the 1/4 mile at 10.20's. Its a badass ride for sure.
  18. So since having a 1970 GTO with the Judge spoiler I have always worried when displaying the car at a car show with the trunk lid open that the wind picking up could slam the trunk or a passerby could unknowingly bump the trunk to close hard and possibly damage the spoiler. So I came up with a simple, cheap solution that could prevent this from happening so I am sharing the idea here. I am posting pics to give you a visual. Hope someone else gets some use out of this. This hole is on both side of the trunk support and just under the trunk hinges when the trunk is open. I found at the local hardware store for $14.99 a 4 foot hollow steel bar 1/2" OD that I hit with a spray can of paint and the added a few inches of heatshrink to each end. Insert the end of rod into each of the holes below the hinge as shown. Most showgoers will be hardpressed to even notice the safety rod when it is in place. Most will think it is part of the car. With the heat shrink in place, and the weight of the trunk on the safety rod, it will be hard pressed to shift out of place. It's really cheap insurance IMO.
  19. The hood tach appeared on Pontiac GTO's as early as 1967 and carried thru the 1971 GTO as an ordered option from the factory. It was analog and two were offered depending on the motor you selected because they had different redlines marked depending on the engines redline. They came in 5100 RPM and 5500 RPM's. It's too bad they don't offer cool options like this anymore. Heres the one off my hood.
  20. Dropped in on a car show that I annually visit at a local country club and I took a couple of old school vs. new school beside my buddies newer GTO. Please admire his retro hood using 68-70 GTO scoops grafted on a newer GTO hood and the use of a hood tach. This is the cleanest and sharpest new era GTO that I've seen.
  21. Some of the most beautiful Pontiac cars I've been lucky to be associated with.
  22. Just got back from Mecum Kissimmee 2016 and stood by some pretty rare and amazing cars including some of the rarest Pontiacs on the planet. Got a chance to meet and chat with Dana Mecum himself, what a cool guy and a dynamic operation he operates. I'll post some pics soon. If you have never experienced one of these auto auctions you need to go if possible because it's a kickass experience. High winds and freezing cold but I was so excited I barely noticed.
