Needed to replace the black Lacrosse. Saw just the tiniest, almost unnoticeable, spot that will become a rust area in the future. That said, what the hell happened to the whole US car market let alone freaken GM! Oh! Excuse me gm! What a bunch of BS!

Well, that’s a sad story. I’m a car guy born & bread! Never owned anything but cars. You see where this s going right? Never owned anything but GM! Excuse me again, gm. My allegiance to GM came from working on cars at 11 then racing at 14, not blind dedication because of a brand name. Even in those days I worked & raced many different brands, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, AMC. GM didn’t just make the best, they engineered the best. Their designs made sense. The placement of components made sense! All the rest were illogical in one way or form or another. Then came the imports! There is not enough room here for that explanation.

End result was I wanted a car! All the imports are a joke, literally, but not funny & I won’t put money in to a foreign country’s pocket so that left 4 cars total between three US car maker, & Chrysler really isn’t a US car maker anymore, but I will include them for the sake of argument. The Corvette @ $100,000 was out. The Charger is overpriced & not worth even close to what they want & not well built. The Mustang was a possibility, but I needed to be a little practical, we do have winter around here!

That left Cadillac, who makes two, both 4 cylinders unless you buy the V series! Which I have looked at several times over the past few years. Flat out fact! No 4 cylinder can hold its own, turbo or not. When trying to move 3500 lbs or more against a V6 or V8, even if they are NA! Again not enough room for that conversation here.

I wanted the CT5 V series 3.0 V6 twin turbo. But Cadillac screwed me. In “25” you could still get it without going to the V series, it was an option in just the regular CT5. And you could get the Sedona interior at no extra charge. Well this year in”26” they moved the 3.0 twin turbo to the V series only & to get the Sedona interior it’s a 8,000 dollar option!! Seriously!

So what has now been a long explanation, sorry JustA, I bought a XT5 premium luxury with the 3.6 option motor. Stellar black, Sedona sauvage interior, & loaded option wise. The good news is there is an aftermarket upgrade for the 3.6 that takes the HP from 310 to 335 & torque up to 300 ft lbs.

The bad news is this is the last year for the 3.6 V6 in anything! “27” will be 4 cylinders only. That’s part of why I made the move this year instead of waiting.

Not much to show, it’s an SUV oohh excuse me it’s a crossover! What the heck’s the difference?! It’s a truck with no bed!

I would note a few things. The vehicle is very well made, very precision! Quality materials, even the wood inlays are real wood, seats are real leather, the whole seat not just the center panels like some cars. Now the bad! The 3.6 has AFM, is & always was a horrible idea! Now GM has encrypted the ECU so it’s going to be more difficult to figure out how to disable it!

It also has the dreaded OnStar.! Which spy’s on you, so as soon as I find where the hell they hid the damn module it will be being put to sleep for good! Other than that I just love new cars!

Check the owners manual and the internet. I believe OnStar has a dedicated fuse buried somewhere.

I personally want to install an auto stop eliminator in my '26 GMC Sierra. My wife's '24 Traverse has this "feature" too. Its annoying AF to have the car constantly stop and start at stop signs and traffic signals. You can disable it while you are in the car but once you leave and come back, it's automatically re-enabled and you to have manual disable it again. So the auto stop eliminator will let me turn it off and it stays off. Sure it might save some gas but it's sure hard on the starter.

My wife's Blazer has auto stop and it is so annoying. Thankfully, it rarely comes on as we have the AC on full blast lol

I can see why you would think that. Which will take a little explaining! Which might become a rant! In the previous post I said one of the reasons for the GM loyalty was their engineering! That ship not only sailed it sank! Common sense; gone pragmatic engineering; gone! It’s all about the infotainment! The connectivity!

The main fact that first & foremost it’s a car! That it about the experience of driving or at least getting from point A to point B has been lost. That the main priority should be the mechanical function of the vehicle, engine, transmission, movement, maintenance.

This vehicle is 9” shorter than my Lacrosse was. When my Lacrosse was in the same space, with about 2” between the garage door & the rear bumper I had about 7” between the Lacrosse & the Indian. Now I have even more, but when I would need to do something in the trunk area of the Lacrosse I would simply turn the ignition to on, step on the brake & put the gear shift in neutral. Then when I was done would just repeat that & move it back! I did not have to start the car!

The moron that design this tranny/shifter; I’m being generous calling the a moron, designed a system that can’t be simply put in neutral! To be put in neutral it must be done in this specific manner. The vehicle must be running! You must open the door, then you put it in neutral with our foot on the brake. While your foot is on the brake you turn the car off. If you close the door it will stay in neutral, but if you open the door; it automatically goes into park & puts the E brake on. Thus the reason it’s still that close to the Indian! Otherwise I would have to restart it & do the whole stupid thing all over again.

Below is the unit I would recommend for the stop start delete. I put this n my daughters GMC Acadia, works perfect & you don’t need to tear your dash apart.

removing the fuse for Onstar doesn’t work! The Onstar module has a battery backup that overrides the fuse, but pulling the fuse stops other things from working. I need to find the module, remove it so I can open it up take out the daughter board which is basically a cellphone dialer card if you will. Once that’s out you put the unit back together & back in place. In this way everything works as it did just no connection to Onstar!
