Roadkill Nights 2026 - Powered by Dodge

I know Indyman Joe is trying to run in the small tire category. I registered Violet for the Cruise-In.

It sounds like besides drag racing on Woodward, there will be chances to run all or part of the Champion, M1's road course or some sort of auto cross event too.

My wife and I won't make it to Roadkill Nights but we will be there for the Woodward Dream Cruise on 15 August - we arrive on 12 August and depart on 19 August, IIRC. Is anybody in the Detroit area doing anything for the Dream Cruise?

Rick

i will be out terrorizing the streets for sure. hope to see ya there!

  • Author

As will I. The question at the moment is where will we be based out of. I have yet to hear any details yet on what the Widetrackers are doing for parking on Woodward this year.

Edited by Frosty

My wife and I will be staying in East Pointe, MI for the week of the Woodward Dream Cruise visiting family - in a rental car, no classic Pontiac. But please keep me informed on any plans for the Dream Cruise.

Rick

Need to figure out where we will be parking and go from there. Hope we can all meet up.

In case I didn't state it earlier, I am registered for the cruise-in at M1 Concourse, so I will be parking inside the gate. I will be driving Violet for this event (after all it is sponsored by Dodge).

Fri am would be a good time to meet up with B52, posted this in another tread.

I am good with a Friday meet up too. Joe told me that he got Friday off also. What time and where are we meeting is the question.

I assume we will stop at the Shrine of the Little Flower's elementary school parking lot for souveigns?

They didn't have dash plaques last year. But we can make the stop with B52 to get what he might want. Tshirts ect.....Bring $$$ B52.

If you are buying shirts T-shirts and plaques, I'm good for the cash - Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, whatever. There's more of me now than there ever has been before so 2XL on the sizes, please.

Sitting in the cheap, I mean, general admission grandstand past the finish line. You could not see the start from there. This was a 1/8 mile strip since there is a slight dog leg after the traffic light in the shutdown area.

The Death Metal Charger is definitely a clapped out POS. It looks sketchier up close. These photos do not do it justice.

The Rotsun is a lot better than you have probably seen it. Finnegan loaned it out to some guys for Sick Week and blew up the rear end. They took it back to their shop and completely gutted the under carriage and floor pans, so the car is actual solid underneath now. It still looks like a total POS top side though.

Nice.

I took this shot to show just how much of the trailer hitch was ground off in those wheelie episodes of Roadkill

IMG_6633.jpeg

I don't no if you noticed, but the carb scope is made up of left over door sheet metal from NASCARLO.

IMG_6635.jpeg

There were a lot of people around my car. However, they were all staring at the survivor Superbird parked next to me. More on it later.

The new RAM Rumblebee with a 6.2L Supercharged Hemi. They claim it is the world's fastest production truck, surpassing their own record set by the now infamous SRT-10 (Viper V10 motor) back in the 2000s.

IMG_6637.jpeg

One of the Craftsman truck series RAM race trucks. I love the new Superbee/Rumbebee insignia on the hood.

Okay I thought I would start the photo pics discussion with some context with some of the things I posted last night from my cell. My comments are in the pic frames above.

I paid to get in the cruise in. So I was parked on the track. To my left were most of the racers for running on Woodward. The flat lot was used for the Dodge Thrill Ride drifting course. It was right behind me and loud all day long. I did manage to find some ear plugs as a result of it. It was cool to watch but it got old when you are trying to have a conversation with someone.

IMG_5141.JPGIMG_5142.JPGIMG_5143.JPGIMG_5144.JPGIMG_5145.JPGIMG_5146.JPGIMG_5147.JPGIMG_5148.JPGIMG_5149.JPGIMG_5150.JPGIMG_5151.JPGIMG_5152.JPGIMG_5153.JPGIMG_5154.JPGIMG_5155.JPGIMG_5156.JPGIMG_5158.JPGIMG_5159.JPGIMG_5160.JPGIMG_5161.JPGIMG_5162.JPG

The public address announcer kept saying that these are stock, production Chargers with the turbo Hurrican I-6 engine. You can get the Charger in naturally aspirated, turbo or twin turbo variants.

Here is a video of the drifting action.

Next up is Violet and the Superbird. This car got a shit ton of looks. This Superbird was literally parked next to me, shortly after I arrived. I talked to the owner while I was cleaning up Violet.

IMG_5163.JPG

Violet with her Hot Rod Power Tour plaque next to her. I notice how a lot of women look at my car more than men do. As Spock would say, fascinating.

IMG_5164.JPG

At a glance this looks cool. However, the closer you look, you see what a true survivor it really is.

IMG_5165.JPG

The driver headlight door decal is peeling.

IMG_5166.JPG

A good sized dent in the driver front fascia.

IMG_5167.JPG

Dent in the passenger rear quarter panel and taillight cover.

IMG_5169.JPG

Rust in the passenger rocker panel (it's deep too - to the point where I would consider getting it repaired somehow).

IMG_5168.JPG

The top vinyl is either drying out or washed out. You can see the outline of the window plug for this car by the discoloration. Not to mention the vinyl top is starting to break down and some rust bubbles under the vinyl top.

The owner told me that he has owned this car for the last 18 years. He is the second owner. He purchased the car from the original owner, a woman, who bought it brand new. She gave him a box of documentation and receipts for the car, including the build sheet, sticker, and dealer prep paperwork. This is the original 440 engine. The owner said the car was not running when he bought it. He spent six months to a year filling and refilling transmission fluid in the spark plug holes before he felt confident to put a wrench to the crank and see if it would turn over. It did! He was very afraid that he might damage the engine. It runs pretty good, I must say. He said he was a retired Chrysler/Stellantis employee.

Hellcat powered Challenger

IMG_5173.JPG

Obviously this guy was racing. However the paint scheme and Colonado body made me think of the Earl Camino from Roadkill. Could this be Earl Camino II? The world may never know.

This was a cool looking Challenger. Notice how the Dodge letters have been removed from the trunk and the word HURST was added? An autographed photo of Linda Vaughan is a must.

A turbo Hurrican powered Charger

IMG_5249.JPG

Mopar approved dog toys! Nice.

IMG_5245.JPGIMG_5246.JPGIMG_5247.JPGIMG_5248.JPG

Dodge introduced their all new Superbee for 2027. It is a twin turbo Hurrican with stronger forged internals and power is pushed to over 600HP. These cars are AWD but if you put the car in race mode, all power goes to the back wheels, making it a RWD powered car. I must say I like the new look on the Superbee logo. The Superbee front fascia is also slightly different that the regular Charger too. There will also be 3-4 unique colors available to only the Superbee. I also heard that the Hemi is coming back to the Charger but it will take some time as space is an issue under the hood of the current Charger ICE platform.

IMG_5259.JPG

The latest RAM Rumblebee 6.2L supercharged HEMI! Yes please!

IMG_5260.JPGIMG_5261.JPGIMG_5262.JPGIMG_5263.JPGIMG_5264.JPG

The RAM Craftsman series race truck.

IMG_5266.JPG

This 2015 Challenger was used in a RKN episode of Roadkill. It sold for $40,100. Someone told me that this is the car that Richard Rawlings put into the cement barricade. However, there was nothing on this car to state that face. So it is not clear if this is the Rawlings car or a car that was raced on a past episode of Roadkill at Roadkill Nights.

IMG_5267.JPGIMG_5268.JPGIMG_5269.JPGIMG_5270.JPG

Not sure how much cruising or racing this guy is going to be doing.

So lets get on with the Freiburger and Finnegan stuff. Mike was there with his FSM (Finnegan Speed and Marine) merchandise, along with Stubby Bob, the Rotsun and the Death Metal Charger. Jeff Lutz, from Street Outlaws fame, brought the leaf blower powered Monza.

Let me say up front that they are truly as clapped out as you can imagine. Mad props for these boys buying and driving these steaming piles.

IMG_5193.JPGIMG_5186.JPGIMG_5187.JPGIMG_5188.JPGIMG_5189.JPGIMG_5190.JPGIMG_5191.JPGIMG_5192.JPGIMG_5240.JPGIMG_5241.JPGIMG_5242.JPG

It makes sense to have some gauges in this thing.

I have no idea what is behind the Christmas charactures.

It would appear that the 305 SBC is now a 383 stroker, if the valve cover is correct.

Remember when they tried to go land speed racing with the leaf blowers?

I had no idea each leaf blower had a name or nickname until now.

IMG_5221.JPGIMG_5222.JPG

The Rotsun still has the Ford small block in it. I asked Finnegan's buddy, Joe, when is Mike going to put the NASCAR all-aluminum block Chevy 4.3L V6 engine in this thing. Joe's answer was "when he blows it up! Which could be as soon as Monday!" Joe's a funny guy! D

IMG_5223.JPG

I will bet that those are zip ties.

IMG_5224.JPGIMG_5226.JPGIMG_5227.JPGIMG_5228.JPG

The Rotsun was beefed up underneath but damn inside and out, it is still a pile.

Mike was selling a bunch of merchandise. Hats, stickers and T-shirts. I bought a T-shirt.

The smoked C-10 from the series finale.

I bought this shirt. The limo pickup and Stubby Bob.IMG_5200.JPGIMG_5201.JPG

Here is Stubby Bob being fired up!

Here is Dave and Mike doing some sort of promo for Hearst or Hot Rod for RKN. The sound around me drowned out virtually everything they said. I hope to find this piece out on the internet some time in the near future. Notice that the microphones they have say Roadkill and not Roadkill NIghts. Hmmmm.

IMG_5254.JPGIMG_5255.JPGIMG_5253.JPG

Here I am bitching about $3.99 a gallon in my neck of the woods.

Oh yeah - there was also drag racing on Woodward! I got one shot of the starting line because the folks that bought the VIP/Ultimate packages got the covered seats near the starting line. The general admission (e.g. uncovered seats) were past the finish line. Given the grand stand arrangement, we could not see the starting line from the finish line/shut down area, except on the giant screen.

This is as close to the starting line as I could get. Not a good view.

I need to look online for other peoples' videos from RKN. Racing was stalled for nearly an hour and I finally got fed up and left to go to the Widetracker's meeting and hang with Justa and his wife. SO I don't know who won what just yet. I will find out though.

I agree Kiwi. A lot of us Dodge owners agree that the Hurrican maybe a good motor but it ain't the sound of a Hemi.

Just found this posting of Facebook this afternoon.

Here is the official livestream video. This includes the Lutz vs Finnegan race somewhere after the 3 hour mark. Seems it was the best 2 out of 3 races.
