  1. We have been moving for the last 2 years and I am just getting to my 1966 Catalina projects. I am asking for your input, as I am use to Corvette Pure us. I have several questions for starters. This is a car that was only show for the last 20 to 25 years. The owner did not have a drivers license for a large part of that time. He was the 2nd owner. For the most part is is all original with 75,000 miles. Things like the battery , spark plus wires, spark plugs, mufflers have been changed. Here are my questions. 1. Since it was in a barn or garage with the front end sticking out for 20 years, it has a smell in the interior. I have have removed most of the interior out and I believe I am going to change the original carpet to help remove the smell. Should I? If I change it should I put in OEM carpet or a super plush carpet? Should I use the standard backing or mass backing? Is there a soundproofing I should use? I need to paint some small areas of the dash. Should I put new sill plates on? The originals are good, but look pretty old. There is no rust anywhere. Any suggestions on how to do this? 2. If not this year next I want to clean up the engine compartment. I will probably pull the engine. I am thinking about upgrading to a 4 barrel. I have all the parts and would put on an electronic carburetor and electronic ignition. It came with a period correct after market air conditioner. I am thinking about taking it off? Should I keep the OEM tappet covers or go with chrome? It was under coated and it has a lot of over spray. How do I get this off? What else should I or should I not think about? I really need to figure some of this out and I am about to order the interior parts to get that finished up. Thanks for any help you can be.
  2. Hi, it's me, Bolle from Germany. Since a few weeks I' am proud to drive a 1963 Pontia Catalina 4-door hardtop, 389 engine. It's my first oldie but hopefully not the last. I appreciate to get in contact with other Catalina-lovers to share some thoughts...and needs for parts. Meanwhile I learned that it's not so easy to get the right wipers...or to find help for a struggling gear box;-) Stay healthy, keep calm and rock on! Best, Bolle

  4. I just bought a 1966 Catalina HT coupe to restore (mod). Does anybody know if the 2+2 interior trim panels will fit the base model car?
  5. Good morning! Im restoring my grandfathers 1966 Catalina and needed some advice from the people down around Phoenix AZ. There are a couple of rust spots right behind the front wheels that I need corrected, headliner, rear window rust spots and id like to get the whole thing re-painted in the original Reef Turquoise. I was looking for shop recommendations. This car is my baby so I obviously value trustworthy places down here that will treat my car with the same level of care that I do. Being relatively new to the area I appreciate any advice you can give on places to avoid and places to seek out! Thank you!
  6. 1962 Catalina frame has rust through forward of driver's rear wheel where frame ties into lift pad. Slight creak when moving car. Is there any way to repair the area? Otherwise car, is good. Thank you.
  7. Hey I’m new here, looking for front rotors on my Catalina. It came factory with disk front and will eventually need rotors for it and can’t find any anywhere. Down the road I want to upgrade the suspension but can’t find anything there either. Ultimately I want it to be a fun boat to cruise in with some power I can take down the strip occasionally
