There should be two lines coming off of it. One is going to feed the filter and one is going to send it back to the engine. This will move the oil via the oil pump. Usually this was classified as a pre filter and there maybe another one located on the block.

The year and, if possible, the engine size is needed here to help answer the question Tina. You should be able to get that from the owner's manual. The owner's manual will also tell you what AC brand filter you need. Given that we can find the correct replacement. Still know the model year and engine size is what we need ot start with.

A picture or two would greatly help as well.

I switched my 67 Corvette over to normal oil filters with Summit's Help, 800 230-3030. Summit also has the canister filter you are looking for.

God bless and good luck with your new Toy!
