  1. Thank you Frizty and Frosty, I do have the owners manual and shop manual. They told me the round bulbs were 90 and I finally found some originals and have ordered the LED version. I never did figure out the original of the other, but an Advanced Auto gentleman started opening up cone versions until we found what worked. It turned out to be a DE3175 LED Sylvania. He was very helpful. In a couple of YouTube videos I did see the under the dash light is in all Catalina's in 1966. Not just the convertibles. Now it is time to start taping and painting the dash. Then I can put in the sound proofing, new carpet and everthing else. A snap right? Thank you guys! Ted Feight
  2. I am still working on the interior of the Catalina and I have 2 bulbs I do not know the number of. 1 is the courtesy light on the side panel as you get into the back seat. It has a double contact point on the bottom. One bulb has a number TS 68. The other bulb number is worn off. The 2nd bulb goes under the front dash and is also a courtesy light. I do want to switch these to LED, but the front dash bulb may not have an LED conversion bulb? The rest of the interior has now been converted to LED and looks great.   4. Fitzy, 64 kiwiboni and dual quadpete, before I get back into this I want to thank you all for your help. I really appreciate all the help I get from the forum! I think this is important enough that I want to show what I found while working on this. I am also going to ask for help figuring out what the bulb shown blow is, as it only and a G on it? As a young man I climbed under a lot of cars and dashes. This one threw me. This was the car I had when I got drafted, but I had never changed the dash bulb. The gas gauge, volt meter, clock and radio were the 1895 twist and pull I expected. The cluster did not look like anything I had seen before. So in my normal detail self I started asking questions before breaking something. No one had got back to me yet so I pulled out the shop manual. These do not always make sense to me, as I am a visual learner. The shop manual said : 1. Disconnect the battery 2. On cars with air conditioning, the venter duct assembly will have to be removed. (I do not have air.) 3.Disconnect the speedometer cable 4. Using a spin wrench or deep socket remove four nuts and lock washers. (I did not find these.) 5. Disconnect illumination board on back side of cluster by removing screws (I found 4 at 1/4 inch.) 6. Push cluster toward front of the car and remove cluster assembly. 7. Replace by reversing above procedure. I had to use my cell phone to find all the nuts and/or screws, but got it done. Below are pictures to show what I was looking at and what I found. I will also show the shop manual illustration and instructions. Also there is a picture of a bulb from the under the dash courtesy light. This is a convertible to so no dome light. I have know idea what it is or if I can get an LED version? One other thing. When doing this have safety glasses on as a lot of sound deadening and insulation will fall in your face.   5. Is there a trick to getting the dash light bulbs out of the 1966 Catalina. I believe they are 194 bulbs and just pull out, but they are hard to get at. In the instrument cluster I think I counted 11? Is there a tool that make it easier? I think I am going to put LED bulbs back in? Any suggestions? Thank you again for all your help! God bless!   6. Well I am back with a few questions and still working on the radio. I found an adapter that allowed me to plug my Apple 13 into my RediRad; that allowed me to play my phone through an AM radio. For your information I also found a Bluetooth adapter for the AM radio. I have put the RediRad adapter in my 67 Corvette and had not problem other than finding a good ground. It was using an FM radio. However, I for this in my 66 Pontiac and it does not appear to work. Now mind you the car is in the lower garage which has 1 foot of cement on the walls, ceiling and floor. So it gets no radio signal in that garage. However, when I put this unit in the 67, I just had to tune it to the correct station and my iPhone worked in this garage. So here are the questions: 1. I ground it to the lower dash. I tested the ignition power I use on the fuse box and it was good. I tested the ground with an alligator clip around it and the ground was good. Does the 66 Catalina have a ground problem? should I ground it somewhere else? It feels like a ground problem? 2. The radio was working through an FM add on unit. If I need to have the radio worked on, where should I take it? Thank you for any help you can be! God bless! Ted Feight

  8. Frosty, Yes it is just an AM radio. I had thought I did get getting a unit that would work with it. Then Apple stopped having a headset plug in. I want to put a removable car council of some sort in it. I may have to put an Apple Play radio in that? Thank you for trying! God bless! Ted
  9. OK, I had put a RediRad into my 67 Corvette a few years ago. It allowed me to plug my phone into it and play my cell phone through the Corvette's radio. It game me music, audio books, GPS directions and so much more. So I bought one for my 66 Catalina. The Corvette's worked through the FM side and the Pontiac through the AM side. Here is the problem, mu new Apple 13 does not have a plug in for a headset. So it won't work? How do I turn this into a Bluetooth solution? Thank you for any help you can be! God bless!   13. Fitzy, Let me know how much you won?? I bought a 1967 Corvette back in 1985. Back then I could have gotten all the information I wanted for it. Today I cannot get the stuff I just got from PHS on my 1966 Pontiac. According to Frosty Pontiac is the only car company that you can still get all this stuff on. For a little history; I got this car a couple of years ago when a friend died. He told his daughter to sell it to me for a price and I paid it. It was fair for both of us. The first thing I did was copy down the serial numbers and all the plate numbers under the hood. Then I began to research all the numbers and data. Long story short not all the information on the internet was correct. I had thought the paint on the car had been changed. It had not and I did not know that before I got the information from PHS. The shear amount of data was astounding. I started out just to get the build sheet. That came with the following information: The build sheet: A color sheet showing all exterior finishes and identifying my correct color. A color sheet showing all seats used that year and identifying my seats and color. A sheet showing all engines used that year and identifying my correct engine carburation, code and quantity built that year. A sheet Showing Pontiac's Billing history for the car. A sheet showing Pontiac's production by body style for 1964 through 1967; the number of units and percentage of total. A page explaining why we had window stickers and when and why they started to be used. AMA Specification for all Pontiacs for 1966, 25 pages long. A copy of the original news release to the press about the 1966 Pontiac Line, dated September 27, 1965; 8 pages long. A copy of the original news release to the press about the 1966 Pontiac Engineering Story, dates September 27, 1965; 5 pages long. Once you have purchased this you can also purchase a Window Sticker showing where the car was delivered, all options and prices, but not the original color. I paid $5 extra to have the window sticker laminated. PHS letter explaining what they sent. An Application to another Pontiac Club After having made the mistake of not getting this information for my 1967 Corvette in 1985, I am over the moon excited about getting this for y 1966 Catalina.   14. Frosty, I hope your Covid is getting better and gone! I now have Covid, but I think it is getting better. I got my window sticker and build sheet information in. PHS does a wonderful job! I am blown away by the quality and amount of information they sent. Hopefully one day you will get a chance to see it all. I was surprised to find the current color on the exterior was the correct color. I had thought it had been changed. I believe that means almost everything is original equipment.   15. Frosty, Thank you for getting back to me. We had moved from Lansing to Rainbow Lake (Perrinton) in September 2020. We have been working like dogs trying to get settled and have some fun too. I just ordered the Pontiac Packet and Window Sticker. I hope I did it right? It was an interesting order system. Last year I did the interior on the 67 Corvette, this year I have the interior completely out of the 66 Catalina. Next winter I hope to pull the engine and do the engine compartment.   16. Well while watching YouTube to figure out stuff someone said the build sheet for a Pontiac Catalina should be under the rear seat. Is it? On the Corvette it is on the top of gas tank. God bless! Ted Feight
  17. We have been moving for the last 2 years and I am just getting to my 1966 Catalina projects. I am asking for your input, as I am use to Corvette Pure us. I have several questions for starters. This is a car that was only show for the last 20 to 25 years. The owner did not have a drivers license for a large part of that time. He was the 2nd owner. For the most part is is all original with 75,000 miles. Things like the battery , spark plus wires, spark plugs, mufflers have been changed. Here are my questions. 1. Since it was in a barn or garage with the front end sticking out for 20 years, it has a smell in the interior. I have have removed most of the interior out and I believe I am going to change the original carpet to help remove the smell. Should I? If I change it should I put in OEM carpet or a super plush carpet? Should I use the standard backing or mass backing? Is there a soundproofing I should use? I need to paint some small areas of the dash. Should I put new sill plates on? The originals are good, but look pretty old. There is no rust anywhere. Any suggestions on how to do this? 2. If not this year next I want to clean up the engine compartment. I will probably pull the engine. I am thinking about upgrading to a 4 barrel. I have all the parts and would put on an electronic carburetor and electronic ignition. It came with a period correct after market air conditioner. I am thinking about taking it off? Should I keep the OEM tappet covers or go with chrome? It was under coated and it has a lot of over spray. How do I get this off? What else should I or should I not think about? I really need to figure some of this out and I am about to order the interior parts to get that finished up. Thanks for any help you can be.
  18. Frosty, It is good to hear from you! I have ben wondering how you were doing. I would love to have you give your friend my information. I have read a few articles and some counter dick each other. Also, we made the move and are up on Rainbow Lake now. I have 2 3 car garages and the lower garage is like a bunker. The only thing not cement is the doors. It is taking some time to get it set up, but you should come up and see it. I hope to start working on the Catalina in late February of early March. I have had all the parts since last year, but with the move all I got done was a new interior in the 67 vette and fixing a very small tear on the drivers seat on the Catalina. I think you would like the place and if you come back in the summer we can go for a boat ride, or jet skis if you perfer. Thank you for getting back with me! God bless! Ted Feight 517 803-9260

  21. I am just starting to think about this, but would like your input. I would like to learn the good, the bad and the ugly about changing over to 8 lug nut wheels on my 66 Catalina. It probably won't be this year, but I would like to do this unless you teach me better. I have seen the adapters and wheels converted to normal drums, but I am pretty green here. I am open to suggestions and learning.
