  1. laughed so hard, dropped my molotov >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tfK7_hiiwg
  2. I'll probably go to one of the local lumbermills and be like "Yooooo I need X amount of wood this size." Preferably pressure treated so they can stand up to the elements and I can reuse them.
  3. The problem is that I can't find stands that are high enough to reach the underside lol
  4. Hey guys, after much consideration I went out and got the Pittsburgh Automotive brand foldable 2 ton hoist. So far I like it. Folded it saves so much space, and I used it to take the snow plow off the the Super A. Just one of the many reasons why I wanted it! At this point I just need stands. Maybe I'll go get some wood and use it in a similar fashion as this Farmall Cub (smaller but similar design): I do have two 6 ton jack stands.
  5. I don't need much height, In fact, I shouldn't have to lift it up at all, just support. I plan on moving it away, then plopping it onto a stand\blocks. It just has to support the tractor as I unbolt the torque tube from the transmission, and then just roll it away about a foot or two. If anything, the only height movement will be from moving it on and off the stand I plan to make. (which I haven't actually given any thought, hahah) Here is a breakdown of the entire "frame" 1. Front Bolster, Bolted to the front of engine. Has the steering hub and front axle attached. Also supports the radiator and grill. 2. Engine 3. Torque Tube. Holds the hydraulic unit, gas tank (missing in this picture), and battery. 4. Transmission. Has the left final bolted directly to it. On the right, its the axle tube (which has the seat bolted ontop if it) attached the right final. I need to take 3 away from 4. I'm thinking of using a load leveler slung under the torque tube.
  6. From reviews I've read and from what people have been telling me, the HF one is actually very good, much to my own surprise. Apparently Big Red\Pep Boys is the worst. And the AC Delco ones seem to be hit and miss. I don't have any O'Reillys within 25 miles of me lol I just checked CL, the nearest one for sale is 2 hours from here... lol
  7. The amount of Harbor Freight and Chicago Electric shit my boss breaks on a monthly basis is incredible haha, thats why I don't feel too great, unless there is some awesome warranty.
  8. My overhead it limited, I only have about 10 feet. As much as I'd love an A-frame hoist, I just don't have the room unless I did it outside. I think the best compromise for price, room, lifting capacity, and maneuverability would be the crane\hoist, yes? I've heard that the Harbor Freight 2ton foldable is a good one. HF tends to be hit or miss with me.
  9. hey guys! It Havoc! That member that lurks more than he posts now and I have a question for you mechanical wizards. I need\want an engine hoist/shop crane for the Super A. Its common practice to use them when splitting the tractor because its easier to roll away one half and block the other side up. As a few of you may know, my transmission needs to come apart and instead of renting one for a weekend project, I'm fixin' to buy one as a long term investment for both the Super A and the Phoenix! I just want to know your thoughts on brands and what not. The section I'll be lifting away will be in the area of 1500lbs.
  10. This is only the beginning...
  11. Dumb things im my garage: 8 1/2 wrenches. 1 and 1/16th socket for a 1/4 wrench A bunch of useless Farmall parts Craftsman products Me
  12. Hopefully not too much. Because at some point it makes no sense
  13. Its currently lacking in cars, but there is word from the devs that more will be added as time goes on. I haven't played in a month because i've been busy, so for all I know there could be new cars already. I really like it, its a fun open world racing game. America is your playground. Its also an MMO so you can run into other players and do missions with them or enter PvP lobbies. I got my copy for free when I got my GTX 970 so I can't exacly say "I got my moneys worth", but I do believe if you love racing games, then its worth it. If you play PC you might be able to come across a steam sale at some point.
  14. Just dropped $1000 bucks on a repair job for the GP.... wheel bearings, tires, alignment, and something with the tierods to get rid of the play
  15. I might look into getting a whole new transmission if its bad. People part out these tractors all the time and if I'm lucky enough I might be able to get my hands on a transmission. The gears look okay though, I might very well just be a critically damaged bearing main shaft, maybe I'll have to throw a new gear or 2 in. I think I might go and purchase the hoist instead of renting. Having that handy will enable to get at more areas for replacement/repairs. Taking off 150lb wheels and 100lb final drives isn't an easy task, even at my age. For example, I need to replace the bearing and seal on the left final because it weeps oil onto the brake band, having a hoist to lift that off the side of the tractor would be Super (A). Restoring old toys is a headache. Frosty, how do you guys do it??
  16. I'm gonna need an 2 ton engine hoist ($$$). Gotta stack wood under one end, use the hoist on the other, unbolt the transmission from the torque tube, and roll it away. Which is just dangerous, no matter how you go at it. Luckily each split end with have 3 points of contact unlike the C (pictured below) I'm also working on. The front end will tip over unless I brace it properly because of the tricycle wheel setup (not shown).
  17. Won't know until I split the tractor in the spring. My guess is a ball spun out of the bearing. I noticed a vertical and lateral play in the main shaft when I popped the top earlier, like a shaft in a hole slightly too big (Men, we've all experienced this). I noticed a weird tapping noise like two gears almost meshing (in the very front) when I turned the PTO by hand while the engine wasn't running with the clutch in and top off. This is my theory. So towards the front of transmission right as the Main Shaft enters the housing there is a sliding gear on it, this gear meshes with a gear on the Counter Shaft below it. I believe the top gear is 4th, so it slides forward to engage the countershaft gear below it, following? Good. As you already knew, I've had a bearing issue for a while, so my guess is that the play in the shaft finally got bad enough where the two gears meshed when they weren't supposed to and BANG caused a shockwave right at the Front main shaft bearing to cause a critical failure.
  18. Pretty sure the mainshaft ball bearing just f*cking exploded.
