  1. Dennis the rod connected to the carb is controlling kick down not up shift . the rod you need to check is from your column shifter where it connects to the transmission as these girls get older the linkage needs adjusting
  2. Dennis. i have justA read the 1963 bible and it has nothing spec to your 1-2 shift.. i need more info on what its doing... this is the bible you should buy !! Oh and sorting a super hydro … your gona need lots of this !!!
  3. Welcome Dennis Am guessing she has the factory 389 ? and I have already replied regarding your factory trans love that blue !!!!!
  4. Hi Dennis . Check your shifter linkage is adjusted correctly .. as in drop the link where it hooks to the trans and have someone move the shifter through each section … that’s the easiest first job check your fluid level with the trans warm and in park with motor running check the vacuum line from your manifold is hooked I am not sure if the governor will stop shifts from 1 to 2 … if all that looks good .. it’s something internal and you need a super hydro guy … mine lives 40 mins away from me … but I am on the other side of the planet I do have the whole service book at home but I am currently at work … I will have a read when I get home tonight and come back to you 👍👍👍👍
  5. looks fantastic Paul ... now you soooo have to put her in next months potm !!!
  6. Oh wayne!!!!your 64 has the best interior!!!! wayyyy nicer than my bench seat girl !!! i really like how you ran with the factory theme and even used the 3 buttons in the seat!!!! and that camaro shifter sooooo looks like it was factory!
  7. Dont forget to put thicker concrete under where your 4 poster hoist is going Mike Then you can really watch frosty go green with envy
  8. Hi Del ! I have been buying some new tools lately .. you haven’t seen half of them yet !!! since getting my plan for not only the 57 and now the 63 in place I have decided to make my job easier by getting some real tools ! for years I have been making do . Or going to a sheet metal shop .. now … I can sort my own tooling for the job in hand For years I used a Oxy/act blow touch to cut steel … last week I bought my first plasma cutter !!! Talk about night and day !!! it’s so quick , clean and only uses air and power !!!! add to that my new box and pan sheet metal folder . A sheet metal roller and Shrinker/stretcher . i had the 63 Safari on my hoist yesterday and today just evaluating what I need to do and really … it’s nothing worse than what I had to do on my 64 ..strip, clean and paint, some new bushings and back together . And to me this isn’t work , it’s justA my hobby , it doesn’t need to be finished today or tomorrow, it will be done when I am ready 👍 You know what mate !! All this time I kept all the parts of the air cleaner together soooo carefully … I went to fit it on the edelbrock today … and I can’t find my factory butterfly nut !!!! a really wtf moment !!! 😡
  9. This is the stuff I need to decided on what to do with … clearly the 12 bolt needs a refresh , it has no drums, or any of the brake components …. And I am thinking … do I do a refresh of the whole thing, buy a disc adaption kit ….. or !! Sitting out in the paddock is my whole spare 64 diff from the doner car used in my 64 rebuild ? yes , both are strong units but which one do I blow money on ? This is still a budget build … and I have the boss to answer to for cash flow . the Pontiac diff will bolt straight in … it will need drums resurfacing new slave cylinders and shoes . But the pumpkin is in good order and won’t need touching yet ! Having said that . 12 bolt stuff is readily available here and shouldn’t be to expensive, and certainly would future proof any change of gears that I may or may not need to do when sorting the ls and trans combo ……
  10. Saturday here in nz is like every other day for months now !!! Rain rain rain . But thankfully it stoped justA long enough to drag the safari into the hoist and get my first real look underside … Floors are clean and rust free. So are the sills 👍 the diff has been replaced with a 12 bolt and I spun 1 wheel and the other turned the same way !!! I am thinking … wtf ? Limited slip or welded spiders ???? so I had to have a look !!! No oil in there but someone had plastered anti seize over everything …..
  11. I cut the old carter sized center out of my factory air cleaner and in with the new 5 1/4 throat to suit the edelbrock. And coat of rattle can black And the rain has stopped !!! So while that dries I can get the Safari in onto the hoist
  12. The air cleaner base arrived and I am happy with the nice swept entry to the throat So I got to test out my new bead roller that came with a pair of shear wheels and chopped it down Punched some 5mm holes in it And it’s ready to plug weld
