  1. I had a really good look through all the parts and since she is very simlair to my 64 it was easy to see most were there … but the clip in hood bolts where not !!! thankfully I just happen to have a bent 64 hood with justA the clips I needed to mount it onto the hinges !!!
  2. At some stage of its life the 9.3 inch Pontiac diff has been removed and replaced with a 12 bolt Chev unit but still there was a Pontiac spare in the back ! Even the front has been changed too. Holden/Chev hubs with discs and for some reason there was this pile of fan belts in there too !! The floors are good but there is 5 areas that need some love on the body work department … here’s two of them The whole body has been Soda blasted and so has the chassis so there no hiding anything !!!
  3. It came with very much everything needed to put her back together Both bumpers are dirty but straight and the chrome is good πŸ‘ And there was even some brand new parts … tail light lenses , a full set of body mount rubbers a new screen rubber and front end bushings and ball joints
  4. Factory colour is blue . And it used to have a very flash blue interior … today I had to scrub the dirt off it just to tell it was still blue !!!
  5. Yesterday , I picked up a 1963 bonneville safari wagon .. it has a interesting history, and my intention is to rebuild it along side my 57 .. this wagon will be a fairly stock rebuild like my 64 was . But we may go with a different motor trans combo ! history wise . This wagon was a government car in American Samoa… it was shipped to New Zealand for repairs in the early 70s and never went back !!! Story has it that it spent a period of its life in Rotorua in the 80s and then was parked up … it did have a 396 big block in it at that time. here is a picture of it way back then Sadly she isn’t as flash as back then now !!! But certainly worth rebuilding !!! here is some pics of her today . And I couldn’t help myself I had to fit the front sheet metal …..
  6. Think it might be time for a new thread wrongway
  7. Got home in the dark last night mate so no pics yet , didn’t even unload it !!
  8. she did !!! woop woop !!! mate, this car has history !! which is wayyyy cool too ! this is a major road trip ! the car is 4 1/2 hours away !. so i am sorting the ram so she is good to tow, the trailer and probly a stay ove night as it will be to far to do in one day !! still having breathing issues !. so i kinda have to be carfull !
  9. yeah i think your master cylinder size is correct.. i justA went and looked at the bore size on my master cylinder for the 64 which is 4 wheel drum and boosted .. it is 1 inch .... interesting how you said it braked good with no assit .... kind of points towards too much vacuum ! which is going back to What last indian said about booster size, gees its justA diaphram... theres nothing to them !
  10. Very sad to even look at !!!. i too think that its beyond reincarnation !
  11. thats another box ticked John, we are running out of ideas..... i have had a Plymouth with what i call sticky front brake drums even after replacing the shoes it still was sticky to the point a wheel would lock up, and i had to replace the drum itself. question for you, have the front drums been reserfaced ? and if so how close to maximuim are they ? if they are close to max diametre thay can move around and cause stick braking. Other than that i think for the cost of a new master cylinder, i would try a new drum drum unit. And justA for interest, try disconnection of your vacuum line to the booster and see how they behave !
  12. Woop woop . JustA pulled the trigger on a new baby … I can give you all a clue … it’s a ……
  13. and have you done any work to the drums and shoes ? everything else sounds correct .. unless the proposioning valve is sticking
  14. Outstanding frosty !!!! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  15. Disc Brake master cylinder have a bigger bore for the front when using discs
  16. John, i have a question for you ... when you brake hard are the front brakes locking up? even to the point the steering wheel gets riped out of your hands while turning ? Last indian is correct, your car should be 9inch booster, and it certainly looks to be a 10.630 Reason i say that is that master cylinder does not look correct for your car !
  17. Gees !! i am slow!!!there was a lot of dagmars too!!!!
  18. Note to fitzy … Mate, we tested the caddy out big time this weekend … we went to check out another toy to add to the collection, and by the time we got home ( we stopped at mavericks for a steak ) we had been on the road today for 6 hours and the big orange girl never missed a beat
