  1. I was there for the 2010 POCI convention SPRINT6. It is a time I won't soon forget (long story). It's honestly one of the best car shows I've ever been to....and I am hard to impress. I have made a ton of friends along the way at this show. I highly recommend the poker run up the the New River Gorge bridge on Friday too. You can often see the trees starting to change color too. A side trip to Babcock State Park to view the old grist mill can be worthwhile too. So as Ghost says ...."Do it"!!!! If I can drive 9 hours from Michigan, 5 hours is a no brainer Stratman.
  2. The 9th Annual Rod Run and Doo Wop takes over Kanawha Boulevard (Route 60) in downtown Charleston WV starting Thursday, October 2nd. Kick events start Wednesday night, October 1st, at Mardi Gras casino in Cross Lanes. This is the largest car show in the state of West Virginia with nearly 1000 cars right on the levy. http://www.charlestonwvcarshow.com/ Registration and event listing can be found at the above link. Free concerts and fireworks. Poker run from downtown Charleston to the New River Bridge Gorge. Lots of drawings and give aways too. I will be there - this will be my 7th year in a row. I've even been asked to volunteer to help sell raffle tickets on Saturday.
  3. Absolutely I am Stratman. The Widetrackers patronize both shows since both dealerships patronize the Dustoff in June. Golling has been our homebase for years and we like to give back to them for all their generosity by supporting their monthly cruises and charities. Even so, Golling often feeds us breakfast at this show for helping with parking. Since the Sellers show ends up at Baker's there is hope that Indymanjoe might even show up too.
  4. Bob Sellars Buick-GMC, in Farmington Hills, MI, is hosting their 28th Annual Indian Summer Car Show at their dealership on Sunday, September 21, 2014. The address is 38000 Grand River Ave Farmington Hills, MI. The show is open to all Buicks, Pontiacs, and GMCs. Register: 8:00 – 11:00 am; Awards: 2:30pm; 3:30pm Cruise to Baker's in Milford http://www.sellersgm.com/CarShow This is show #2 for a great car weekend in SE Michigan.
  5. Golling Buick-GMC's annual charity car show and super cruise will benefit Love Inc of Oakland County. It will held on Saturday, September 20th at Golling's dealership in Lake Orion Michigan, on M-24, just north of the Palace of Auburn Hills (the home of the Detroit Pistons). Registration is open until 8-11 a.m. Judging is from 9-11:30 a.m. Awards at 3:30 p.m. DJ is Rockin Ronnie * Live Bands * Entertainment * Craft Show * Great Concessions * Dash Plaques * Trophies * Asking for Donation to Local Charity. This is a charity show that the Michigan Widetrackers have supported and we often have reserved parking. I know notallthere and JUSTA6 have attended this show in the past and we've had a great time. It promotes a great charity and the Widetracker's give back to out patron, Golling too. If you are in the area, I hope you can join us. This is show #1 of a great weekend in SE Michigan.
  6. Show us your pictures of your hookers and blow. C'mon we know you took pictures....
  7. I just saw a rare, unrestored Pontiac 2+2 at a car show this past weekend.
  8. I enjoy ones that have a theme and sticks to it. I will always prefer a painted car over a case of welded up rolling tetanus, I think the guys that build them have mad fab skills and I wish they would complete the vision by painting them in some fashion, even if it is a a faux-tina paint scheme. I think these cars look much better with some sort of paint on them, rather than just rust. You've this much thought to your project, why stop at this point? Interesting ratrod you found Stratman.
  9. The 301 was originally bolted to a THM350 non-lockup transmission (sometimes called the CBC350 transmission) or the THM350C (lock-up converter) transmissions in the '81 Trans Ams. However, it retained the stock Pontiac transmission bolt pattern, so theoretically it can bolt to any BOP bolt-pattern transmission. Performance wise, however, the 301 (even the turbo variant) does not generate enough power to warrant anything above the THM350. All PontiacV8 engines have the starter on the driver side. Chevy engines have the starter on the passenger side.
  10. If you have a GM shop manual, you should be able to find it in the Accessories section of the manual. It won't be in the main wiring section.
  11. Ici, je pensais que tu essayais juste pour divertir nos membres canadiens-français.
  12. Havoc - any update on this situation? Was the pilot found? Is he alive or is he consider MIA?
  13. Actually I have heard of the Trojan. I've never seen one up close though. Coincidentally, Jesse James and crew modified one during an old episode of "Monster Garage", I think it was used to create a "Monster Claus" float for a Christmas parade.
  14. Congrats stratman - an awesome win!!!!
  15. WHAT?????? THERE IS BREAKFAST IN IT FOR US (usually)!!!! YOU CAN SPEND AN AWESOME DAY LOOKING AT CAR CHROME, ME AND JUSTA! Umm, did I mention car chrome?
  16. The 1999 Concept GTO. It debuted at the 1999 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Sadly this isn't even a working prototype. Its a full size roller only. There is no engine or interior. I wished to hell that Pontiac had produced this car. Still many styling ques from this were taken and applied to the 5th gen Camaro. Note the rear quarters, roof life, windshield angle, hood/fender length. All very similar to what ended up in the Camaro. So I am suggesting this car had some influence on the current Camaro.
  17. I think most women would find getting in and out of the Challenger a lot easier than the Corvette - especially in a short mini-dress. That said, a convertible Corvette is just that - pure American muscle. Tough choice, but for a date - I think a Challenger would be a more practical choice.
  18. JUSTA is quite correct - just remember that this Jerry Farnsworth print was commercially available for quite a long time, not just to Pontiac dealers and divisional offices, but to schools, libraries, and historical societies all across the country, so the value may not be very high. Clearly it is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Good luck find out what it is worth from Tim Dye. If the print has a certain history or provenance, it will be worth more than others.
  19. I will vouch for JUSTA. He is nuts! Wing Nuts!!!!! I can't wait to see the 'Bird on the road again bud!
  20. It is time to get the 'Bird running JUSTA. Make us proud! Killer - you do need therapy. Justa repeat after me. "Hi. My name is Killer, and I have a Grand Prix problem....BUT I LIKES IT !"
  21. Thanks buddy. I will get it from you soon enough. I will catch up with you by the Golling show or perhaps Sellars, if not sooner. I have one for every year I've been doing Woodward, I missed the first two years. So I have 18 years worth of them. I will probably stop once I hit 20 or 25 years. I will mail you a check once I get home from Hilton Head.
  22. Ringo you asked for the reason for the vacation. Its a family vacation to Hilton Head, including both the mother and father-in-laws in our condo. My sister-in-law and her clan are down the road a bit. The reason for this week is because that is when the condo was available. Didn't matter if it was Woodward or Back to the Bricks or not. Hardly had the car out at all this summer due to all the baseball games I've been to for the kid. First day on the beach and in the water today was great.....until I got stung by a jellyfish. Stung like a mutha' &*$#(&#@! Pictures will be available later.
  23. I spoke to JUSTA this morning before I left WV for SC and he told me about this. Seems Richard Rawlings, from Fast N' Loud fame, was given the keys to a Dodge Viper at the Woodward Dream Cruise...and did one of his classic burn outs....and promptly got ticketed for it!!! I hope this gets on the show.....LOL!!!! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=777581968931806&set=vb.343470002343007&type=2&theater BTW I got to see the Batmobile in South Charleston last night. It was clearly not the original...it looked too new.
  24. This week is the beginning of the Back to the Bricks events in Flint Mi and Friday and Saturday is the Woodward Dream Cruise from Pontiac to Ferndale MI. So this encompass somewhere around 40,000-100,000 cars between the two events and well over 2 million spectators. Who is going? Where are going to be? Post your stories and pictures right here. Sadly, your ring leader can not participate this year. The family and I are leaving tomorrow morning for Hilton Head Island, SC for a week's vacation. For my wife to book this vacation starting this weekend out of the entire year is beyond words. So I will refrain from profanity and wish everyone that goes a great time.
