  1. New fan dangled accessory for the Challenger.
  2. Done. Their people will call my people. They will do lunch.
  3. Here you go GE.....a nice cool picture of sweet tea. Frankly, I'd rather have pitcher of sweet tea instead !!!!
  4. Here is what I started with.....Lucy's stock, egg crate grilles. My package from McNichols in Chicago came. It had 1/2" perforated hexgon sheetmetal...aka honeycomb. Once the new grilles are cut to size, its time for mock up. Now its time for prep, primer, paint, and clear coat. 1. Minerals spirits to act as a wax and grease remover 2. Self-etching primer to allow the primer to bite into the virgin metal 3. Gloss black - 3 coats 4. Gloss clear coat - 3 coats Here we go...... Now that the grilles are painted I will let the paint harden for about a week before I assemble it. I also have a unique problem. The eggcrate grille is about 3/8"-1/2" in width and the honeycomb is not. So now I have to create some sort of spacers (like stacked washer) to build up to the grille mounting surface back up. I think I have a plan......
  5. Pro I'd love to see the Parisenne on the road course period. After having test driving both 300S and 300Cs when I was looking to replace the Avalanche, I must admit I am thorough impress with the 300/Charger/Challenger platform. GE is right it being able to handle right out of the box. I also found better leg room in the 300 over the Cadillac CTS since the Caddy dash is V-shaped and hits my knee, where the 300 is not and provides more leg room (for me). The 300C with the driver adjustable pedals and steering wheels is also a nice touch. As a RWD luxury car, I would take it over the CTS. Now to be fair, I have not yet driven the new(er) XTS.
  6. JUSTA will back me up on this place for sure. Any restaurant who's web page that says "Got Bacon?" can't be all bad Pro I think you and the family need to check this place out the next time you come to Woodward. It's about an hour north on I-75. http://www.tonysi75restaurant.com/
  7. Simple - I have not registered with the casting agencies to be called in case there are any open casting calls for extras in any movies being filmed in the area. A couple members of the Wide Trackers are extras and they've been in a couple of movies already. My storage engineer is in the Batman vs. Superman movie, he's been mum about the scenes he's been in.
  8. I thought I did. Shaved door handles are an old hot rod customizing trick. You need to either replace or install/repair the door "poppers" that are actuated by your remote. The idea of a shave door is the clean look. The door poppers unlock and push the door open when you hit the button. There should also be some sort of manual release in case the battery goes dead too. Since you (or your dad) bought the car, I am assume the previous owner didn't inform you of where that was. Summit Racing is just one source for a shaved door handle / door popper kit. There are others you can Google. This is a "universal" kit so it will be your job to make it fit your car. There is no set specific application for a 3rd gen Firebird. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/eli-89000 .
  9. You are doing a good job havoc. Take your time and it will be back together in no time.
  10. Its cool to see the new Batmobile. The new Batman vs. Superman movie was partially filmed here in Michigan, in the Lapeer, Metamora, and Detroit areas. Several people I know were extras in the movie. Filming took several months here in Michigan alone.
  11. You've obviously never eaten at Tony's in Birch Run MI. Just order a "side" of bacon and you get over a pound of cooked bacon. A hot fudge sundae at Tony's takes 4 people to eat it. BTW - I had grits for breakfast last Sunday at Cracker Barrel. Ketchup on grits ain't the proper southern way, even I know that. Butter and cheese is the best way. The doggone waitress in Charleston SC taught me and my dad that almost 20 years ago. I love hash browns, not diced potatoes that some folks try to call hash browns.
  12. Okay....help me out here Pro. I get the need to heat bolts to get them to expand and all to get them out. What's wrong with using your basic hand held propane torch you have for plumbing work? Or is it the whole open flame/ka-boom thing in general - it is not just limited to acetelyne? The induction coil thing looks neat. I assume that only works for things you can get the induction coil around in the first place?
  13. I'd rather be mashed into a pothole then clean the kid's bathroom and toilet Ringo.
  14. New car electronic technology and its corresponding software is so prevasive and it is getting more so. A friend of mine at GM is working on vehicle cyber security. That's right, Your car can be hacked and now car companies have to spend time and money to come up with ways to try to protect it. Furthermore, your new car will eventually require software patches, just like your Microsoft or Apple PC does, to protect against various vulnerabilities in the wild. So your car will have to be connected to a secure Wi-fi connection or directly to an authorized dealer to download the latest patches.Of course, you will be monitored by the OEMs for compliance (especially in case you sue them), charged for each patch outside the OEM/extended warranty period, etc. Big Brother will definitely be watching you! Clearly the auto industry is trying to have its cake and eat it too with this idea. They want to shut out the Flash ECM tuners and aftermarket as a whole - claiming that alteration of the OEM SW is both proprietary and a safety issue. So if the automotive industry tries to say that we don't own the cars anyway more, they are "right to use licenses only" instead, then I think we (as consumers) should play the PC commodity game, and we expect each generation of "car" HW/SW should significantly cheaper and more powerful that the previous one it replaces, and that a car generation is about 18 months or less long. Can you imagine the auto industry developing new car platforms in 18 months that are newer, better, and cheaper? If this was a serious hard play by the automotive companies, I have to believe that opponents like SEMA would step up loudly against it.
  15. It's already a hot rod. What are you going to do to it to make it your hot rod? Nice find.
  16. I see Von Hot Rod pinstriped the Rat Roaster guitar on the show. You didn't have Stacey sign any of your electronic gear did you?
  17. Paint for the Envoy showed up today. So I've got two car projects to work on this weekend. You watch "someone" (not me) will say "we have to clean the house"!
  18. Wasn't built to play well with others 6 Shooter.
  19. The mother-in-law arrives home from the shops to find her son-in-law Paddy in a steaming rage and hurriedly packing his suitcase. "What happened Paddy?" she asks anxiously. “What happened?? I'll tell you what happened! I sent an e-mail to my wife telling her I was coming home today from my fishing trip. I get home ... and guess what I found? Yes, your daughter, my wife Jean, naked with Joe Murphy in our marital bed! This is unforgivable, the end of our marriage. I'm done. I'm leaving forever!" “Ah now, calm down, calm down Paddy!" says his mother-in-law. "There is something very odd going on here. Jean would never do such a thing! There must be a simple explanation. I'll go speak to her immediately and find out what happened." Moments later, the mother-in-law comes back with a big smile. “Paddy. I told you there must be a simple explanation ... she never got your e-mail!"
  20. You are correct stratman. There is no equivalent of PHS for Oldsmobile, sadly. So we should tip our hat to Jim Maddison and PHS for the service they provide. The red W-30 inner fenders are probably re-poped by now. Olds owners have to find the build sheet under the back seat or on top of the gas tank - assuming it isn't totally shredded to pieces.
  21. That's doesn't sounds like a smart thing to do if you want repeat attendees. Now was this a cruise or a regular car show?
  22. Gas jumped up to $2.59 yesterday. Yes, he does send the special photos. Doesn't mean he won't widen his distribution.....
  23. Yes it was. It was also badged as a W-30 car too stratman. I liked the orange one for dechoming the bumpers and making them body color. It worked for that car. The interior was not to my liking though. Sterring wheel was too modern, modern radio and shifter. It didn't have a good vibe -
