Early sign your hub bearing is going, I betcha. What's the mileage on the GA?

173. :P

but i was told it was something to do with a bearing or a sensor.

explain a bit please?

On the Grand Am's the sensor is built into the bearing assembly. If the bearing goes bad then usually the sensor will register an error. I have changed about a dozen of these with friends cars and I am getting fast at changing them.

So basically a bearing is going out.

Like if i back up & put it into drive, it says low trac or whatever & wont grip very good at alll... and then as soon as that happens the ABS, SVS, & Trac Off light come on.

but my breaks are also squeaking all the time..

Yeah the bearing seal is usually the first to go. It will let water into the sensor and the bearing. Alot of the ones that I have changed have rust inside the sensor. I am not to sure about traction control, or stability control since I have zero experience with them. If they use the same sensor on the bearing assembly then it may correct that issue. As for brakes and squeaking it is probably due to pads wearing out. Have them checked for wear and tear.

Ill bring that up to my grandpa, who wants to figure out whats wrong with it.

But, those breaks are brand new. & they sound awful!

Probably cheap dinky pads were used. Most cheap semi-metallics squeak when they're hot.

And yeah, you have a bad hub assembly for sure. It's common for them to go in old age with N-bodies.

Show us pics of the brakes, something might have gotten caught in there.

Im starting to think the breaks that were put on & the rotors are shitty all together.

& that sounds right to me... i dont think anything is caught in there because i had them all taken off last weekend & cleaned out and everything b/c we thought something was in there as well & the problem is still happening.

These sound stupid but I have done some of these myself:

Is the wear bar in the right location?

Any of the backing plate bent into the rotors?

Is there any dirt or debris between the backing plate and the caliper?

Are the pads put on the correct side? (inside pad on inside, outside pad on outside)

Cheap semi metallic pads in my experience have squeak. Find a Dodge Neon and just listen they all squeak.

After working at Autozone for +2 years, I can vouch for how crappy the base grade semi-metallics and organic pads are for the N-body's calipers. They squeak a lot, and throw immense brake dust.

It's a bit more money, but order your brakes online. Hawk and EBC are the best pads you'll ever buy, ever.

As far as rotors go, Baer Decelas, Powerslot, R1 Concepts, and Brembo make awesome OEM size rotors.

They're money well spent.

Well, there have been times ive drove the car straight down the road & it has squeaked.

My old breaks didnt even sound this bad. I barley drive my car atm, i drive a G6 around more now than my own car... lol.

I can vouch for Powerslot rotors and Satisfied Ceramic Pads worked great even after 40,000 km on them today they logged 1000 km with a 1200lb trailer behind the Vibe without a hitch.
