2026 Woodward Dream Cruise

Featured Replies

It looks like the Michigan Widetrackers will be sucking wind again in regards to parking for this year's Woodward Dream Cruise. Nothing has been resolved or finalized. A lot of people are prepared to try attending the Back to the Bricks day long event in nearby Flint instead. The best we may be able to come up with is what happened last year.

Golling Buick-GMC in nearby Lake Orion is the Widetrackers patron sponsor/supporter. We use their dealership for our club meetings, our Annual Dustoff car show, and we patronize their car shows and cruises. Golling is also the coordinator for the Metro Detroit Buick-GMC dealers during Woodward. This has been held at Nicky D's Coney Island (32657 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48073). What has happened in years past is you park your ride at the nearby Greenfield Elementary school (a few bocks off Woodward) and they shuttle you to Nicky D's and they have security watching the cars in the lot. They have lawn chairs but I suspect you can bring your own. When you want to leave to go home or cruise, you just take the next shuttle back to the school lot. I brought my own cooler and camera last year. I will try to firm up details in the next couple of weeks.

Justa/Indyman - Do we want to do a run on Friday morning/early afternoon or our usual dawn patrol run Saturday morning with JustaG6 and Mikey? I need to be on the west side of the state before dinner Friday night for the West Michigan Pontiac Club's big charity car show. So late Friday afternoon/evening is out for me.

Can't speak for Joe, but he's usually working Friday. I would be up for an early cruise down. Beth will be back to work, so I'll check with Mike (he may be working as well. ) JustaG6 will be working Friday too. This might be a good time to meet up with B52? Saturday shoot for our normal meet up N quick cruise down/back. Seems from the meeting, that Widetrackers plan to take over the same spot across from the Chevy dealer at the Bricks with LIL interest in Woodward.

It’s not a lack of interest but a lack of a good location. The old place on M59 and south Woodward, the guy wanted over $2k last year and Widetrackers are cheap and aren’t willing to pay close to $100 for parking. Bricks is also attractive for the dedicated club parking and most folks aren’t bored with the Bricks yet.

The place across the street from the train station won’t even talk to us period. So that place is out. The only other alternative is to pair up with another club. You know who is supposed to be working on it, right? It’s been 3-4 years of bad locations or none at all.

I am rigidly flexible on whatever you fellas wish to do with me and I really appreciate the hospitality. I'm good for paying for gas, parking, lunch, dinner etc. just for the ride along.

Many thanks,

Rick

Wrongway, were you able to time your appointment with the DC?

Anybody else like to try and meet up?

B52 - are you bringing a car to cruise Woodward with or did you want to ride along with one of us? Obviously any car can cruise Woodward since it is an open state highway. Just curious.

I am not bringing a car or a truck though I will get a rental there for the week. I will accept a ride along with anybody that'll let me ride. And profusely thank them.

I thought the road would be closed to all vehicles except classics . . . . ???

Wishful thinking, Normal Mom N Pop traffic is suppose to stay in middle lanes and leave curbside to the cruisers for the spectators lining the 18mi route. The cruisers tend to be near the center of the AVE so they can make the Michigan U turn and head back in the other direction. We will need to find a place to meet up and leave your car. Will your wife be with you? We probably won't have time to make the whole loop. Frosty is going across the state to yet another cruise, then back for Saturdays official cruise. If you didn't get enough of the cars N mayhem, local channel 7 ABC host a couple hour special coverage show on TV. I like to be home with a cold one to watch the end of the cruise.

Yes, my wife will be with me, and we are visiting my youngest son and his family in East Pointe, MI - he is stationed at the Selfridge ANG Base. I'm not sure how my wife, son and his family will fit in with this drive Cruise, but they might enjoy the trip with the normal Mom and Pop traffic that you mention above. And then we meet up at the end.

B52 and crew! Friday is setup, people claiming their spots to park or watch the show, setting up tents, many displays such as the Ford Mustang alley, GM has it's mobile display. Most people are at work, so alot of normal traffic mixed with the DC influence. Usually make a run all the way down EARLY Friday while traffic is still moving, and figure out where everything is. Official Dream Cruise merchandise tents are scattered along the route. By noon Woodward both days is a parking lot for most of the cruise route southern end. Birmingham to Pontiac is usually moving pretty good and Pontiac area is usually a lil more forgiving of burnouts. (Cmon we have Roadkill drag racing right on Woodward with Funny cars N dragsters, the weekend before, You should drive the Pontiac end sunday to truly appreciate the tire destroying carnage of the last week) So this year, Frosty is retired and can make the early Friday cruise this year!!! Woot cheers IndyJoe is taking both days off this year to meet up with B52 n crew!!!! cheers Sooo as none of us are even familiar with Eastpointe, we are going to ask you to meet us at 12mi and Woodward. There is an official Dream Cruise merchandise tent (east side just before the 12mi light in Northbound side of Woodward) 9am? Everbody stock up on the T shirts N gear. We should be able to make most if not a complete cruise of the route. Frosty needs to be back on the road to cross the state to participate in a cruise on that side of the mitten and then drive home to be ready to meet up with us for the Saturday "day of show" cruise. We head down early and stop at the 12mi gear tent for remaining part of our group to get their gear. Stop at anything interesting on the way back. As we don't have Woodward parking this year, We might cruise up to Flint with Frosty to the Bricks and parking with the Widetrackers. I will be home watching the 7 local ABC coverage to finish the Dream Cruise. Extending the invite for any Forever Pontiac members that would like to meet up with us. Now's the time! Would make a great group pic.

OK, 12 Mile and Woodward. Should be easy enough. 9 AM on Friday morning. Is this for our entire Forever Pontiac group for the Cruise or is there Saturday activity as well?

Looking forward to it.

Saturday is the actual Dream Cruise. As stated, Friday is the set up day, plenty of cruisers and find/figure out where to go on Saturday if you head back. Early is the key, esp if your rental doesn't have A/C.o
