Hey again peoples,

We've been away for the weekend, so following is a photo/video dump of the experience. Not really curated, pretty much just a good snapshot of what we recorded.

There were a lot of pretty cool rides, and a fair bit of different stuff we haven't seen before. The Saturday Night open Car Cruise pretty much ran all day - you could just jump  in and out as you felt like it. A big police presence made themselves very obvious, but for the most part there wasn't really too much anti-social behaviour at all. Evidently they've had some trouble previously, so just weren't taking any chances. In my experience whenever an event includes the "pro-street" fraternity, there is usually stupid shit going on. These guys just can't seem to keep their dicks in their pants 🤷‍♂️ The Show itself ran on the Sunday.

It was a nice experience for us to be involved with such a big group. Our friends have been going to this event for years. Their family own an old-school mechanical business about 5 hours south-west of here (Toowoomba), and have a number of classic vehicles. Each years they book out a lot of one of the local van parks local to the Show (held near Scarness, Hervey Bay - South East Queensland for anyone not familiar with Australia), and all of their employees and their families attend as well. They all pitch in and drive whatever vehicles are going to the show for that year.

Their vehicles are...The Diamond T (big red truck), white MK1 Cortina (race car), green '66 F truck, pink/white (original paint!) Ford Mainline ute, red EH, and the '36 Ford.

Oh, we now have a console in the Bonneville too 😁

Enjoy 🤙

The Mainline ute, Diamond T and that bitchin' patina'd Ranch wagon - all style.

The Mainline reminded me of a story my father told me. When he & my mother were just a young couple he had a Mainline ute just like that one in the pic. Then I came along and a basinette wouldn't fit on the front seat along with both parents, so he had to sell up and buy 'sob' a Beetle. I mean, geez...there was plenty of room in the tray of the ute.

Of course you'd never hate your own kid, but he must have looked at me sometimes asleep in the basinette and silently cursed as he fired up the dak dak instead of the burble of his beloved Mainline...with the distributor ON THE FRONT of the engine. GM - are you listening???

question ....

why didnt he justA stick you on the back ?  with the dog and crate  of beers

I know, right? Just because Tasmania is freezing cold with lots of winding roads wouldn't have mattered. That's what occy straps (octopus straps, stretch straps) and a tarp are for. I might have toughened up a bit.

Or you might have drunk all his beer!

Cool story.

That ute still has the ORIGINAL spare tyre behind the seat.
