A day of fun there. Nice catch.

wow thats one big fillet!!! good catch mate!!

where they a good fighting fish to catch ?

what sort of bait to they like?

Herring is the preferred bait.  If halibut didn't taste so good no one would fish for them.  It's like hooking your line to a 50lb rock and cranking it up from 75 to 300 feet.  The big ones do tend to erupt when they arrive at the boat.

i just googled your halibut, its what we have as flounder down here

really nice eating!!!👍

whole fish, coated in plain flour, pan fried in butter and eat it with malt vinegar dressing 👍

one of the first fish i caught as a kid,

we would use shell fish like pipis as bait to catch them, but yes i bet they like herring too!

*Slowly licks lips*

Reminds me when I would go trout fishing with my dad and his cousin on Lake Michigan. Nothing quite as big as casper’s Halibut, but 20-25 pound steelhead trout is also good eating too.

When you hook one by the tailfin and wrestle with him for 45 minutes getting him into the boat, you’d think your hauling up Moby Dick. Then you catch crap from your old man and cousin for the rest of the day for taking so damn long......somehow I surprised the urge to make my mom a widow that day.
