2018 Chaleston WV Rod Run and Doo Wop

Featured Replies

Well despite the horrible start to the 13th Annual Charleston WV Rod Run and Doo Wop, I'm having a great time!!!

The first car is dedicated to Pro. This car belongs to my other Canuckstani buddy from East Toronto, Dual Quad Pete. He bought this car out of Vancouver. It's a '64 Parisienne wagon, copper top, 327 "Pontiac" small block, 3-speed stick shift! Yup, it's a manual transmission car.

Thanks guys, I will post a few more later today when I get some time. I'm hiding in Hilton Head Island SC again with JUSTA the missus for the week. We are expected to get the rainy remnants of Hurricane Michael on Wednesday and Thursday here.

Good luck with that. Hope it doesn't ruin your plans too much.

Stratman - I’d love to catch up with you sometime in the near future for sure. I’d love to do the Blueridge Parkway some autumn with you too.

The Blue Ridge Parkway rocks...Know every nook and cranny from Roanoke VA...to Asheville NC... Definitely a nice drive... well worth doing.....

(look at it as pretty much my private road course)

Think about adding the Skyline Drive to your trip... I'm about 15 miles from miles from the start of the Skyline Drive. The end of the Skyline drive is the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway. So to get the full fairyland cruise, you would start at the beginning of the Skyline Drive in Front Royal VA, continue on the Skyline Drive till it crosses over I-64 at the top of Afton Mountain, at which point it becomes the Blue Ridge Parkway, and then continue on the Blue Ridge Parkway to the end in NC.

The Skyline Drive is 105 miles, the speed limit is 35mph,  it will add three to four hours to your trip but well worth it.

If you were thinking about this year when the leaves change, they might not be too good this year due to all the rain we've had this spring, summer, and into the fall. Normally, about this time of year, we start to get some color. However, everything is still green and I'm afraid they're going to go from green to brown with not much color in between.

It would be my pleasure to meet you.

Thanks for the support guys. I can't make this year, not after spending a long weekend in WV for the Doo Wop and then another week in Hilton Head with the missus.

I am 3.5 years away from retiring, at which time, I have every intention to find any excuse to get out and go somewhere. That's when I will have time for the things like the Blue Ridgeway Parkway, Tail of the Dragon, Route 66, Road to the Sun, etc.

If I have the opportunity to meet you fine gents before then, so much the better.

This appears to be a homemade pie/paddy wagon.

No worries Pete. We've been friends too long to worry about sh*t like that. So long as I get the cold one and a chance to bang those gears in the wagin some day in the near future. Deal?
