New to site with 75 lemans

Recommended Posts

Hi! I just picked up a rusty 75 lemans that suffered thru many chicago winters. Just checking the site out here. Let me know if you have extra doors, bumpers, or quarter panels!!

Welcome to FP 68venable!

The '73 - 77 Colonade style Lemans did not receive a ton of aftermarket support as the 1964-1972 A-body cars enjoy. So you have to find used rust free parts, parts cars, or new old stock for a lot of your restoration. Now some parts from the earlier cars do interchange, especially in the drivetrain. However, body specific stuff will be a lot tougher to find.

I can provide you with a list of salvage yards that you can contact, if you'd like. Also Craigslist and eBay are sources as well.

Thanks for the welcoming guys. I have some fenders coming across the country soon from a craigslist ad... if he doesn't back out. There's a junkyard about 5 or 6 hours from me that have several but they wanted $450 for the front bumper. I was hoping for something a bit cheaper than that. That seemed to be the same price as fenders and doors too.  I found a dirt cheap 305 to replace the tired 250ci straight 6 with. That went pretty smooth so now I can start trying to enjoy it and learning how to do some panel welding. I will try to upload some photos.

At least you have a sense of humor too.

Did mean to say you have a 305 V8 (a.k.a. a Chevy) or a 350 (Pontiac or Chevy) for it?

It's just a chevy 305. It popped up for the right price at the right time and bolted right up. It had the chevy 250 straight 6 when I got it. We will see what it ends up with later in life. I just needed to be able to drive it while doing body work so I wouldn't lose interest haha.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.
