I lol'd after I cut it open, but for all the people who say they "swear" by these pieces of junk, what now?

Cheap cardboard filter material. It acts like a sponge and heavily prohibits oil pressure and flow. That thing on the top, a sad excuse for a drain back valve, it's made of plastic. lol everything is like paper. They fall apart after being soaked with oil and heating up. Haven't you heard of the horror stories with these pieces of junk?

AC Delco alll the way

 wow... good to know... I think.... what about the other frams??? Tuff guard , etc...

Same thing, for more money. Seriously, AC Delco, K&N, Bosch, Wix, and Mobil 1 are the way to go.

What filter number do you LX9 guys use?

I know for the older GM V6's, they were using the small ones for decades.

Fram, STP, and other no-names:

normal: 3387A

oversized: 3980

AC Delco:

normal: PF47

oversized: PF52

K&N:

normal: HP-1001

oversized: HP-2001

Mobil 1:

normal: M1-101

oversized: M1-201

Bosch:

normal: 3331

oversized: 3430

this is why i perfer wix filters (or NAPA gold same filter)

even the ressure relief valve is a cheap plastic

if you still have it unravle the filter material and show the langth

w00t AC Delco...

My dad uses fram, 250k on his 5.7 with no problems. =/ So IDK.

i prefer the K&N oil filters myself. they filter out pretty good and aren't made out of cardboard junk like the fram.

just put it this way... you pay for what you get. im pretty sure everyone has heard that before.

ooo i heard the tuff guards i good tho

wow.

I have the LZ4 and I use the Mobil 1 M1-206.

the mobile 1 oil filters are awesome too!

Mobil 1 filters can easily be pushed to 6-8K oil change intervals.

I'm currently running Castrol Edge 5W-30, but switching to Castrol Syntec 0W-30 with either the K&N or Mobil 1 oversized filter.

I use Mobil 1 oil and filters ALWAYS.
