Have you checked out the '56 hood springs from California Pontiac Restoration? I would expect these to work with your '55.

Another thought might be to check '55-57 Chevy hood springs.

I just checked - none at Ames. As Frosty said, Chevy ones must be almost the same.

You sure have a lot of work ahead of you, but good on you for keeping another Poncho alive.

Assuming the paint is original to the car, it reminds me of a funeral director’s car! Any known history of this car Paul?

It was originally castle gray, almost antique white, someone poorly repainted it.

So what are your immediate plans for the old girl?

  • Author

It is running and licensed, plan to finish recovering seats, replace noisy front wheel bearings, install electric choke, install reclaimed carpeting from chevy silverado,,,  I want to keep it all original as much as possible. it is going to need a headliner and repainting, but that will be later. I mainly want it drivable and dependable.
