Last night, Justa sent a text to Indyman Joe and I. He was out of recovery but he was complaining of still too many wires and tubes he was connected to. A physical therapist came to see him and disconnected "a lot fo the bells and whistles" and let him stand and stretch! He said it was absolutely priceless and how much he really needed that.

He said he is hooked up to a brace system that is about like a body cast. He won't be able to drive and he will be in this contraption for the next 3 months. He reports that he is in a LOT less pain, it only hurts when he moves now.

Is that all! Crap! Maybe we should JustA cast him in concrete! What the hell!
In all seriousness, that’s just terrible! Having been dealing with my wife issues since last March, those look like a pretty mild thing compared to Steve’s troubles.
Having not really been on FP for much of “24” what started Steve’s hip issue? Was it sudden or did he know it was coming?

Excellent question Last Indian. I will do my best to answer it as I know the facts. Justa or JustaG6 can correct me if I get something wrong.

Justa had hip replacement surgery well over a year or year and a half ago. At his age, like a lot of us, it was due to arthritis (damn you Arthur). He struggled with the recovery. It went slower than his doctors expected and he would have liked.. He also had pain that would fatigue him. That's why he struggled so much getting the Sunbird, G6's Red, and the GTO on the road this past spring and summer.

It turned out that he developed an infection in the new hip. In mid-September, they removed the replacement hip and drained the infection, and he was given in a temporary spacer so he could move around with the help of a walker/cane/rolling chair. This was done to treat and eliminate the infection before a newer hip could go back in. One concern was that the infection might have been caused because his body might have been allergic to the one or more of the materials used in the replacement hip.

A few months ago, he was cleared of the infection and a newer hip with different materials and design was put in. This is the hip that is now giving him more trouble and more pain. Some how it got dislocated, as he described it to me (I honestly don't know what that means with a mechanical replacement hip unless it physically popped out of the ball and socket), and was pinching or putting pressure on his tendons and ligaments. From his messages, it sounds like he was in constant pain and agony when this happened.

That led to him going into the hospital this past week. I honestly don't yet know what the doctor did to help him out yet. I have not gotten any description from him or G6 yet to tell me what they fixed or changed. So there is where we are at now. He sounds like he is in much less pain now but now we have this whole body cast thing to contend with.

Does that answer your question Last Indian?

Hey guys did not expect to see this.  Not gonna dwell on all the BS and many surgery's I've been through that started in Oct of 23.  I'd rather thank my buddies and family for stickin with me, putting up (should say waiting up for) the gimp with the cane or walker at the shows I was able to attend.  The solid metal ball and cup I've been dealing with since 2016 was found to be the cause of an infection that I battled for all of 24.  Seems the infections bond to the metal, this includes any metal they use for dental procedures. So they had to remove it and put in a plastic spacer that was filled with antibiotics and put a constant drip in the hole where the hip was. I had a pik for most of the year with more tubes ect for daily IV's that my Best Friend on this planet had to help me with daily, THANKZ BOSS!  Also had bells whistles wires tubes atttached to the gash down my leg. Once confirmed the infection was finally beaten, I was cleared for a new style hip.  Never consulted or shown the new hardware.  Dr did know that I've played high level Volleyball for most of my life. And I need back on the court!!!!!  The new hip dislocated.  Yes the ball came out of the socket.  My wife was in the ER room and never should have seen what they had to do to me to get it back in the socket to relieve the pain I never dreamed possible.  They kept me loopy til the DR could get there for surgery, replacing with a larger ball setup the would force the cup to clamp better on the ball.  He also tried making the entire leg longer to take up some of the slack in the tendons, muscles, ligaments that are suppose to hold everything in place.  Everything has been torn, ripped, cut so many times that it's a massive lump of scar tissue.  It will heal, but takes 3 times the length of time.  As he said, it's like growing grass on cement.  Made it through the holidays only to sit on the couch and have it dislocate again. Last time I was standing up from the couch. They were not able to get it backin in the cup in ER so I was left waiting for my DR to return from vaction.  Best case..find a position that offered the least pain. Even Morphine was no match.   Dr then showed me the part#  It has 3 balls in the socket for this to move smoothly.  It all came apart and was spread all over in the hip.  He was going to justa put it back in the socket, went in waaay to easy so he opened me up to find these urethane parts that could not be seen in Xrays ect.  So I am now sleepless and sitting here for almost an hour, hurtin like crazy in this brace that does not let me sit up straight in a 90 degree bend for the next 3 months.  Its finally 4 oclock and I can do pain meds N maybe get another couple winks of shuteye. Then in 3 mo's he has to go in again after the bone grows to the screws and the cup.  Couldn't give a damn about this crap when my baby girls in the hospital with our two new additions and all dealing with lifes problems in their own way. Thankz for the thoughts N prayers guys N girls.  They are needed.

Steve, the only thing that matters is you & the stress it causes all of you! And I know that has to be a lot.
But, I JustA got to say it! Who says socialized medicine doesn’t pay?
For those non US citizens who aren’t clear as to why I say this, it goes like this. As a kid & than an adult until about 1990 give or take a few years most nearly all doctor had their own practice! They set it up, they paid the bills, they ran their business. You, the consumer picked who you wanted. Additionally those doctors had the right to practice at hospitals they chose! Starting in the early “50” or sooner, little by little those hospitals started to slowly gather doctors to be part of a network of doctors under an umbrella of the hospital, operating under hospitals controlled & paid for facilities. Today that’s all there is! There are next to none that operate independently! So as a result you can pick who you want as a doctor, but they all operate with one voice; that of the hospital system they work for.  Enough said.

Sorry Steve! I have dealt with these folks way to long! I’ve witnessed first hand their incompetence & the loss of life it has caused & the misery they’ve caused, all for a buck! Let not forget the opioid crisis

Very true.  I've had enough.   I am almost paranoid to sit or stand from any chair, car seat, ect.  This body brace will not let me sit at a 90 angle in a chair/sofa, nor will it let my knee's come any closer then 90 to my chest. Crushes my chest and causes me to panic wake up if I even get a nap.  I'm a side sleeper so the next 3 mo's are gonna be rough.

I have not yet seen the twins.  The walk from parking lot to her room was at least 1/4 mi.  I had a very hard time making it up there, before the hip let go.  We are taking her to DR app today.  As it's in the direction of the Hospital, we plan to stop by today.  Have no idea how I could walk that far.  This is my 1st time out of the house.  I trust this hip to stand up from this chair,   like I trust the ice on LK Huron.  Ohh there is no ice on LK Huron yet.  This could be quite the adventure.

I beg your pardon. There is ice in Saginaw Bay! Not much, just enough to sink your ice shanty if you go out far enough.

So that means you are.....wait for it......on thin ice!?!

I crack myself up sometimes!

Mel has asked to wait on pic's until the twins have all the tubes, bells N whistles off.  According to Mom N Dad, they are making amazing progress so it won't be long.

Is she out of the hospital herself?

Yes, she came home a week ago and having to travel back almost an hour one way everyday.  We took her to DR app yesterday and we went to hospital after. My 1st time out of the house.  I got to meet and hold both additions, 1st one besides Mom N Dad to hold both. We were able to put them back together in one bed for the 1st time for couple quick photos. They responded right away to each other.  As Finnigan say's.....  BEST day at work ever!
