I hate to disappoint you all but I didn't register. Joe has wanted this since last summer when he and I attended Roadkill Nights for the first time. He asked me to be part of his pit crew. I'm delighted he feels that way and so I will honor that request.

Now that being said.....we can probably arrange for a burn out session between the two of us on or before the Woodward Dream Cruise. We will have Justa or JustaG6 video it.

In addition to the selection process, Dodge is going to be there with Dodge prepped Hurricate Challengers and Chargers cars, so I doubt that I'd even get picked running a stock R/T Scat Pack.

I would wait til Dream Cruise when it's sort of legal to do burnouts.

As colored smoke is an Aussie skid thing, Cmon Fitzy pony up N send Frosty some purple tires. 

I’m down for that! It would be better if he came over the pond and installed them on my car personally, meaning he’d have to hang around and watch the Dream Cruise with us a week later!

Indyman Joe says he will know by the end of this week if he has been selected to race on Woodward on the 10th. If he's selected, Justa, Joe and I have matching pit crew T-shirts justa in case. If Joe is not selected, then I will pay the general admission fee to see the show.

Joe has not heard anything so I have to assume that we are not pit crewing for him this year. That said, I purchased my spectator ticket yesterday.  I will be there. Rumor has it that Mr and Mrs Notallthere might be there too.

Hmmm i thought i posted i didnt get in. doubt i'll make it though. we want to take a mini Michigan tour. Have fun!

Looks like Roadkill Nights will take place inside the M1 Concourse and not actually on Woodward Avenue. Hmmm.....this will be different.

In previous years, the starting line was on the other side of the rail road tracks, just past Rapid St.

Well let's just say that Roadkill Nights Presented by Dodge was a success in my book, even though I didn't stay for the grudge matches setup by Dodge. First, and most importantly, was spending the day with Mr and Mrs Notallthere. I haven't seen them since Christmas since they live is Sarnia, Ontario. It was a pleasure to hang out with them again. It's far too long in between.

Second, as expected, Finnegan and Freiburger from the Roadkill TV show were there, shooting a future episode of Roadkill. This time they were cutting up a clapped out 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 pickup truck that they had purchased in Ohio and then drive to Roadkill Nights. I think they were doing the same thing to this truck that inspired the original Vette Kart (which actually occurred prior to Roadkill). At that time, they took a 1985 C4 Corvette and literally cut everything off that was "non-essential" and see how has it would be. I think this is the pickup truck version of the Vette Kart.

They said they made a pass at the 8th mile track at M1 and ran 9.57 seconds. When I videoed their run, they claimed to have removed 650 pounds off the truck. They did not tell us what the ET was for the second run (I guess we have to watch the show for that). Then they were back at it, cutting even more stuff off. They were cutting the roof off the cab from what I say before I left.

What was interesting was that they were taking the time to talk to fans, had an impromptu autograph session with fans, and even cut up some of the pieces of the truck. autographed them and gave them to fans. Mrs. Notallthere got a piece and so I did I eventually.

During the autograph session, I asked Frieburger what is going on with their Pontiac T-37. He said that he and Dulchich have another Pontiac 400 and transmission (which we saw in a recent episode of Roadkill Garage) and that they are going to build it up on the show. I asked if they were going to put it on the dyno on Engine Masters. He said no, they were just going to build it up and run it.....at least for now. So stayed on more T-37 goodness.

Speaking of Pontiac and Roadkill. We came across the 4x4 Fiero that the boys traded up (or down) for on a past Hot Rod Power Tour event. In the show this Fiero had no doors. It is still "something" to see.

Then we had a wheelstander. Last year was Hemi Under Glass, this year it is Mike Mantel's RAM Firetruck!

 

The front end and the plexiglass piece is to allow Mike to be able to see down track and steer while he is in a wheelie! Cool.

 

 

 

 

 

Lots of cars, especially Dodge, to see during the event. There was a cruise in as well as the racers themselves.

Here is the new Dodge Charger EV. They had a couple of them spread around the show grounds. I like the styling.

I found this in the Roadkill show's Facebook page. I cut these photos from the video. Here is the RAM 1500 truck running down the drag strip after I left. They were in the process of cutting off the cab roof when I left.

So will this be called "Truck Cart" or "RAM Cart"? We will have to watch that episode of Roadkill to find out.
