Old Stillwater Garage

Saturday we traveled to Stillwater, New Jersey to Lou Calisabetta’s  Old Stillwater Garage for an informal get together and open house.  Lou is a longtime POCI member and his shop has turned out some great restorations, customs, and hot rods over the years.

Haven’t you seen my car enough?🤣🤣

My wife says something goes wrong with it whenever she rides in it so we took the daily for the  1 1/2 hour drive.

I have seen Lou's articles in Smoke Signals in the past.

The Kopper Kart is a legendary custom truck from the 1950s. It was one of the first magazine project trucks.

The gold and white custom I think I've seen before at the Detroit Autorama. It was either inspired by or painted by Gene Winfield.

Thanks for sharing 31pontiac. Awesome pics!

Can't get enough of the Bonne.  Waitin on some action shots of the Hot Rod at shows.:pop_corn:

That Bonnie looks a lot like Dmitri Toth's powder blue Bonnie.

We first met Dimitrie in 1982 at the POCI convention in Minnesota.  He really liked our ‘59. So much so that he offered to trade his  SD421  ‘63 Catalina for it,  a trade I had to regrettably decline.

Several years later I was asked if I had my car at a show in Michigan for GM employees.  I soon found out that Dimitrie had found a  ‘59 Bonneville like ours.  His story of acquiring his car was in Smoke Signals October 2018 issue.

Here’s Dimitrie at the Dream Cruise.

I know the story. Dimitri told it to me a couple of years ago in person. I have followed that car down the Dream Cruise a few times as well.

If you saw the October issue of Smoke Signals, I wrote the article on the Michigan Widetracker's Dustoff car show. I featured a picture of Dmitri "holding court" and telling stories to anyone that would listen. Everyone except Dmitri was sitting down! LOL!

I did see that article and even showed my wife the action shot of Dimitrie.

That's funny!

Our next Dustoff is Justa few weeks away. I'm sure I'll run into him again.
