EF2 tornado hits Mentor!

Featured Replies

JustA little after 12:30 am Thursday night/early Friday morning we were hit with an EF2 tornado that did some major damage to the city! Destroyed several homes, put 3/4 of the city in the dark! Of which there is still more than a third without power.

We were very fortunate! I had the top tore out of a big old wild cherry that did some damage to two of my 8’ tall boxwoods & we lost power for about 30 hours, but I have a generator, so pretty much unscathed! Our daughter on the other hand, while lucky to have no damage, still has no power even as I write this. Her neighborhood was decimated! Looks like a war zone! Can’t even get down many of the streets.

Glad to hear your all OK.  They passed through here and always intensify as they cross the lake.  My generator got a pretty good work out too.  We had 6 confirmed tornado's in SE Mich Thurs nite.  Crazy weather.  Never seen such a light show from lightning for hours on end.

Glad to hear you and your family are ok Gary !

i can only imagine what you went through !

Glad everyone in your family is okay. We had a near miss ourselves. Tornado warning and take shelter, radar saw some rotation but no tornado, thankfully.

Lived in Missouri briefly as a kid, know tornado alley well. Remember quite well the sirens and my mom yelling at us to come inside and into the basement. Definitely have empathy for all those that go through this.

It must be karma. My subdivision lost power on a clear blue sunny day for almost 2 hours this afternoon. Not sure what's up with that nonsense. Power is back on now.

Yup! Been a crazy year, but in reality weather is always up & down! Must be climate change 😳! Ya right! I bet the dinosaurs thought it was climate change too!

Thanks Chris! It wasn’t that bad for us, but many others are hurting. Was out helping today. Some folks still don’t have power.

Glad your safe, glad everyone is safe. We are all blessed! A little inconvenience isn’t a problem in my opinion.

It was just a bit of a surprise because Mentor has never been hit ever in its history & no one called for watch for one.
