Need some help defeating rust

Recommended Posts

I pulled off a bunch of bolts in the front bumper support that have some surface rust on them, im also pulling off a bunch of the brackets that have rust on them as well

I want to strip all of them of the rust and repaint them to the original color

Is there some type of liquid I have to buy to do this, or whats a good way to get rid of the rust, some of the bigger stuff obviously I can sand or run a dremel over but im not sure what to do with the bolts

I have to act fast, I fear I may lose the bird to rust if I dont start on this now, its deteriorated quite fast over the past year

PB'blaster is a good rust penetrator, as far as loosening the bolts go.

A good wirewheel on a power drill will do wonders cleaning up rust, and rubberized undercoating, or even rubberized bedliner spray would be great after all the surface rust is gone.

And if you're gung ho enough, RHINO LINER!

I have done this before and it works really well. Just leave it in a well ventilated area because Hydrogen is the off gas.

Evaporust has good reviews, as does regular white vinigar.
