  1. I also like the idea ...Would definitely be different/way cool.... Quite possibly the Ultimate Q Ship...???
  2. The 2002 3.8 Supercharged Buick engine used in the Grand Prix... Is a completely different From the 3.4/3400 V6 engine used in the Montana...And Don't really share any common parts..So the short answer is No..The 3.8 Super Charger will Not work with the 3.4.. 3.4/3400 montana engine 2002 40th Anniversary Grand Prix GTP...The Supercharged 3.8/231 Also uses different cylinder heads..Than the naturally aspirated version of the same engine.. Among several other things...
  3. Great car... One of my high school girlfriends had a 73 GTO...Her sister had a Chevy Laguna S-3.... They both were cool cars.....Haven't seen either one of those kind of cars...Out on the road or in any local car shows in at least a decade or more... Welcome to Forever pontiac...
  4. Was just wondering because I think maybe Through some of those (mid 50s early 60s) years Pontiac engines were used in certain GMC trucks... Was thinking possibly that there might be some subtle differences between the engine blocks/ pans used on the car engines and the Pontiac engine blocks/pans used on the truck engines..Might be something to consider/Look into....When it comes to oil pan fitment... Is it possible that your engine was originally from a GMC truck...Instead of a car.... Frosty might be the person who would know if there are any differences If any between the Pontiac truck and car engines..
  5. Just for my own curiosity... Does the engine still use bolts for the main caps..?? Or have they been Upgraded/changed over to studs..?? Or maybe billet Main caps...?? During the rebuild...
  6. Oh.. Forgot to mention Mustang IIs and probably a couple of Datsun 260s...And of course Schwinn 5 speed stick shift Stingrays... Yeah I know....Wasn't really fair... Was still alot of fun though...🏁🏁
  7. Welcome to the site.. 403 powered TAs can be really nasty with the right combination of parts...
  8. Took my first drivers License test...In my mom's New 1977 Gremlin..Had a 258 CID 6 cylinder engine...4 Speed manual transmission..Would crush Vegas and Pintos all day long.. Welcome to Forever Pontiac...
  9. Have been watching...Agree with Kiwi Although personally I'm highly opposed to using starting fluid in gas or diesel engines...But in this case it (starting fluid) would help quickly isolate the problem and help point you in the right direction...Just use it very very sparingly so you don't inadvertently hydrolock the engine... That being said 99% sure the starting/ idle and stumble issues are directly related to the Carburetor...justa being worn out and desperately needs a rebuild/replacement....Realistically... That is pretty much the only option you have at this point....
  10. Think this might be what you are looking for..Don't know if would still be available..This is at least a 20 year old catalog...
  11. Judging from the pic..Looks like Someone installed a Chevy flywheel instead of the Pontiac specific unit...The bolt pattern (crankshaft) and the pilot bushing is universal across all the GM brands...The weight/thickness of the flywheels and the location of the outer rings and the tooth count are the main differences between them...A quick way to tell the Chevrolet Flywheel from the Pontiac Flywheel is the Pontiac will have 6 (six) bolt holes..The chevy and possibly Buick will have extra slightly offset hole for a dowel pin...
  12. Switch and box are cool... Love the Chair even more..👍👍👍
  13. Still up in the air..Will be a spur of the moment decision...Once (if) we get on Interstate 77...At Mount Airy N.C...
  14. What's up Kiwi.. Your leak is probably originating from the front pump seal...or maybe a crack in the front pump cover or the cover gasket itself possibly due to damage from the accident the car was involved in several years ago..you should be able to pull the bottom metal cover off of it and look between the rear of the torque converter and the front pump of the transmission using a flashlight...Have someone (that you really trust) in the drivers seat to start the car...While holding the brakes put it in gear and and throttle it up just enough to load the drivetrain up...With it loaded up look inside the cover with the flashlight and you should be able to Physically see where the fluid leak is coming from... Also there is a whole section devoted to the Super Hydramatic transmission in your 1963 pontiac manual..pages 7D1 to 7D 94...1963 and 1964 Super hydramatics are the same... The front pump seal/cover gasket is an easy fix...But the transmission has to be removed from the car to do it... TLBT..
  15. If your car is stock (unmodified) You will not really notice any difference ...Other than psychological...In the way the car runs/performs as they are already tuned really close to optimal from the factory...Can also potentially cause Drivability issues on unmodified/stock cars...
  16. Surprised that the Special Ordered (Only way to get one New)...3rd and 4th gen 1LE cars...Weren't mentioned...Guess they fall into the category of ultra rare but not particularity popular or valuable...???
  17. As long as the cylinder heads or the block is not cracked.. Even if is locked up...It would be absolutely rebuildable... But it wouldn't be cheap....
  18. We Have been itching for a road trip...Was kinda maybe thinking about jumping in one of the Firebirds and rolling up toward Charleston West Virginia...In October Ourselves..We haven't been up that way in couple years...Plus it's fairly close only about 4 hours... More or less away...Depending on which route we take...
  19. Welcome to Forever Pontiac...Way Cool car.. I know this is Pontiac sacrilege And Can't believe I'm saying this... But I like the Buick 455 engine in your car..All V-8 Buick engines have really good forged internals from the factory....With the correct combination of mostly factory parts they can easily make one horsepower per cubic inch and 500 + foot pounds of torque with little effort...and have excellent Drivability...
  20. Have been looking through some of my old Pontiac service manuals again...and have ran into conflicting illustrations...and text..the one I'm 95% sure is correct is from the 1963 chassis manual...The 1964 chassis shop manual is a supplement for the 1963 manual...which shows the shorter shoes toward the front of the car opposite of the adjusting stars which are always to the rear of the car...Also the right front and the right rear adjusting screws are left handed threads and they are identified by having 4 grooves in the adjusting screw nut whereas the drivers side nut is standard RH thread...The backing plates themselves are also right and left handed... Sorry for any confusion or inconvenience I may have caused...As I strive to post only accurate information..The photos show the right hand side TLBT...
  21. The brake shoe with the longer pad surface area is the primary shoe and is installed toward the front of the vehicle...The primary brake shoe lining should be a lighter color than the secondary brake shoe lining.... Looking good Kiwi...
