Thanks Darrel, the Grand Prix looked great as usual at the show. Thanks to everyone for the congratulations. The best part is being around other Pontiac enthusiasts.

Our car last attended the Pontiac Southern Nationals in 2001 with the previous owner. We attended PSN for the first time yesterday and received the gold award for the best original 65-67 GTO. The event was held at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison Texas and hosted by Dallas Area Pontiac Association. The event was very well organized and a lot of fun to see the cars and planes. We parked next to a C-7 Caribou and one of the original crew members gave us a tour of it. It's always an honor to meet a veteran who has served to protect the freedom we enjoy. I hope it's okay to post pictures of military planes on the site.

I just replaced the vacuum modulator attempting to eliminate a hard shift at slow speeds and have a question about the o'ring seal around the tube that slides into the side of the transmission case. Does the o'ring just fit between the lip on the tube of the modulator and against the perimeter of the hole in the transmission case, or is it supposed to go into a recess in the side of the transmission case. I couldn't see anything like that, but it just seems like a poor design to have an o'ring between two flat surfaces. Thanks for any help or suggestions as always.

I bought my 67 GTO one year ago today. If's been a fun year to say the least. When we first looked at the car, the first thing I noticed was the cheap plastic cover over the old dash pad. In the first days of owning the car I thought that would be the first issue I addressed with the car, but as time passed I decided it wasn't my highest priority. Well it finally rose to the top of my list and I ordered a new dash pad from OPGI in late April. The first one I received looked good for the most part, but had a few blemishes so I returned it and ask that someone inspect the replacement prior to shipping it to me. I received the second one in great shape. I decided to repaint the top of the dash, the part visible between the front edge of the dash pad and the base of the windshield. That was interesting since I wrapped the inside and outside of the car in drop cloths. So as you can probably imagine I was painting a five inch strip five feet wide while inside a plastic bubble. The good news is it came out great and no overspray anywhere. Here are some before and after pictures. The before picture looks worse than it really was because I had pulled up the right side to try to see what the old dash pad was like under the plastic cover.

It's time to replace it. Been putting this off for too long, but had to take care of a few other things that had priority. Do any of you have a suggested vendor for a replacement dash pad? I've looked at OPGI, Ames, NPD, Year One, etc. Planning to purchase one in the next 2-3 weeks so any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks Jim, I used Duplicolor Perfect Match Torch Red. My car is not an original Pontiac color for 67. I wish it was, but it makes touch up paint easier to find. Took about 3 1/2 cans over a red primer base. I still need to detail some of the black around the firewall and the hinges.

Well, it's been a while, but I finally decided to work on my hood. Thanks for all the input. I painted it body color after taking longer to wrap the entire car and engine compartment prior to painting it. It would have been easier to remove and do all of this, but I was concerned about getting the alignment correct and possibly doing some damage to my fenders so opted to paint it in place. I wanted to paint the entire underside even though I'm going to get an insulation pad for it, most likely a molded one. Let me know if you have any suggestions for a source. I looked at Ames and their site doesn't have pictures of the product.
