  1. Thanks Frosty, I saw several articles describing the need to put a clear topcoat on it. t got the trunk cleaned and prepped over the weekend and taped around the trunk and covered the entire car with plastic drop cloth tp make sure I don't get any overspray anywhere. I will post pictures of the finished project.
  2. Clay bar is an amazing thing. I've used the Mother's kit that comes with the detailer that acts as a lubricant. Still need to wax/polish after using it.

How did the new high torque starter work for you? Any issues with fit or function?

    First Day

It sure looked good sitting in our driveway for the first time.
  5. This is the rig Cars Enclosed, Inc. used to deliver our 67 GTO. I talked to Reliable Carriers and Passport Transport, but their prices were much higher. I also learned car transport is a cut-throat business, so watch out if you ever need your car transported.
  6. Our car was shipped from Oklahoma City.I used Cars Enclosed, Inc. and was very happy with the service.
  7. I had a Marina Turquoise 66 GTO during my last couple of years of high school. It was a four speed, no PS, no PB, no A/C car. It was a fun car, just a little hot in the summer. No A/C in Texas is bad news and it seemed to always run hot. Just out of high school I saw a 69 Mayfair Maize Judge sitting in front of a local car dealership. I went inside to ask about it and they had just traded for it. This was in 1971 so it was a couple years old. It had A/C, PB and PS, but unfortunately an automatic. I bought it anyway. It was a fun car to drive and got lots of attention. I will always remember this guy in town that had a 70 SS 454 Chevelle jacked up, 4.88 gears, bumpy cam and the whole bit. He kept wanting to drag race me, but you guys probably know most Pontiacs back then had highway gears so it was a no brainer to not race this guy. One night he kept nagging and I said let's go. He asked where, thinking we were going to the local drag strip, a county road with a good mile straight stretch. He was surprised when I said the name of the town we were going to race to - about 30 miles away. That shut him up, We never raced and he never said another thing about it. He knows if he had been stupid enough to try something like that, I would have had to go back and pick up up somewhere along the way since he would have blown that 454 with those gears. Any way, after raising the daughters, getting them through college and getting a little ahead, my wife and I decided it was time, and after a long search we now we have the 67 GTO in the garage. She enjoys it almost as much as I do.
  8. Thanks guys, I decided to go with the black/aqua spatter paint. FYI - for Duplicolor 11 oz can, it was $7.49 at O'reilly locally vs. $14.98 for at OPGI + shipping n case you ever need it.
  9. This is what's on my car right now - see attached, so you can see why I'm looking for something more period correct.
  10. I like the look of Rally II's without rings too, wouldn't change a thing on yours
  11. Does anyone have a reference of any kind that indicates the color of the trunk spatter paint for a 67 GTO? I have a couple restoration guides and have done some significant internet research and get contradicting information regarding the colors (black/aqua, gray/white, etc. Any input is greatly appreciated.
  12. I bought my 67 GTO last month and it has trim rings from a much later model on it. I would like to replace them, but not necessarily with the stock 67 versions. My car has 15X7 (obviously not original) Rally II's and I would like to go with a trim ring that doesn't have a flat cone surface and not a brushed finish. I think I'm looking for something later model, possibly 69 GTO/Firebird that has a curved surface and a stepped lip. Anyone have any suggestions on the model that had these from the factory and where I might find some reproduction rings? I've tried looking at NPD, OPGI and Ames, but it's hard to tell a a lot about the details from the pictures they provide. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I attached a picture of what I'm looking for (not my car in the picture).
  13. Just joined the site to see what others are doing with their Pontiacs. I had a 66 GTO and a 69 Judge years ago. Was finally able to get another GTO a few weeks back. Looking forward to seeing what I can learn from the site. Also interested to see if there are any other members in the North Texas area.
