Bucket Seat Bumpers
rickmpontiac replied to rickmpontiac's topic in Pontiac Interior Discussion/Questions
Received the new seat bumpers today from Ames Performance and decided to locate the screw holes with a straight pin on the sides that never had the bumpers.. That worked perfectly and they are all installed. It made a world of difference in the way the seat back feel. Nice and solid and straight from one side to the other. The bumpers from Ames matched the one good one I had perfectly. -

Bucket Seat Bumpers

Thanks JUSTA6, I did feel what I think are screw holes in the seat frames and found a set of four of the bumpers that I plan to order. Appreciate the feedback and suggestions. -
I have a somewhat silly question for anyone that has a 66-67 Lemans/GTO. I noticed that my driver's side seat back tends to lean further back on the right (inner) side and a little investigation found that the rubber pad was missing off the plate for the bumper. Then I noticed there has never been a bumper on the left (outer) side of the driver's seat. My first thought was that maybe it's not necessary with the seat back locking mechanism on that side. So I looked at the passenger side that also tends to lean further back on the left (inner) side. That seat has an intact bumper on the right (outer) side the same side as the seat back locking mechanism so that blew my theory about the driver's side seat not having a second bumper. I'm including a picture that I found on the web, (not my seat) that shows the seat having one bumper so mine is not the only only one like this. I would like to put a bumper on both sides of both seats, but I don't want to punch a hole in what are supposed to be the original seat covers not knowing if there's a place to mount the second bumper on each seat. Notice the seat back (same as mine) has the heavy bracket on the seat back that should match up with bumpers on both sides of the seat lower. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Rick

This was the only other Pontiac in the show. It was a beautiful car.
