So long Roadkill

Featured Replies

The 13th snd final season of Roadkill will start airing on Motortrend channel starting Tuesday, April 1st at 9 PM EDT.

What i find interesting is that when i check my cable TV guide, it shows as a repeat episode and not new. I suspect that this is because these episodes have been available on Discovery + for over a year now but never aired on the MT channel until now.

Tony Angelo follows Frieburger's lead and tells us what happened to every car that appeared on Hot Rod Garage. This is a part I. Tony has promised us a part II in the near future.

You now have the opportunity to buy the El Cochino El Camino (ute) that was on a couple episodes of Roadkill Garage.

Here is what has happened to it since RKG ended, and some details on what will happen. The sale price and details of how to buy it will be in this Friday's video from David Frieburger on his YouTube channel.

Here is the latest on the T-37, probably the most popular Roadkill junkyard rescue car ever! She has a newly refreshed motor (are you paying attention Kiwi?) that is part of one of the last (as yet) unshown episodes of Roadkill Garage and we get a much closer look at her both inside and out. It's not all pretty.

I cannot help but wonder if Indyman Joe;s Dirty Girl  is inspired by this car? Even though he's had his longer than Roadkill has had theirs.

Yes it was Kiwi and we still have an, as yet, unaired episode of Roadkill Garage that has the T-37 in it. I assume that episode will cover the engine build up.

BTW - the El Chachino has already been sold. $9500 was the ask and they got it.

Here is Frieburger's latest video on what happened to all the cars that appeared on Roadkill Garage.

I find his behind-the-scenes story of the Pontiac T-37 a "holy f*^@" moment. He sort of admits that too.

Wow !!! He was lucky it didn’t kill him !!! 50mph and a drone coming at ya !!! Not good

I am willing to bet more than one set of shorts had to be changed that day!

Tony Angelo gives us part II of the what happened to the HRG cars.

Power Tour has been noticeably quiet regarding Motortrend being purchased by Hearst publishing and any plans they may have for the brand. Former hosts Mike Cotten and David Newbern have no idea what’s going on.

I spoke to current Hot Rod magazine editor John McGann on Sunday. There has been no announcements from Hearst regarding the future of the magazine, as yet. Since Car and Driver is already six issues per year, John is hopeful that Hot Rod will be able to do the same soon. He did mention that being a Hearst employee is already better than being under Warner Brothers/Discovery’s thumb.

Part I of II on what happened to the Rotsun from Roadkill. Part I is on Finnegan's channel. Part II will air later this week on Freiburger's YouTube channel.

Before I forget - the series finale of Roadkill will air tomorrow night (Tuesday 6/22) at 9 PM EDT on Motortrend's cable channel.

Hint - it does not end well for Finnegan.

The final season of Hot Rod Garage will begin airing on the Motortrend channel starting Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

By my reconning that leaves the final season of Faster with Newbern and Cotton and the last six episodes of Roadkill Garage left to be aired. So the last of these filmed shows could carry into early 2026.

It's been a little over a year since we heard that Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) shutdown Roadkill and the rest of the Motortrend Production studio shows. Now WBD has changed the name of the Motortrend channel here in the USA to Discovery Turbo. I understand this name change makes the channel name consistent with same channel in other countries.

What I am still puzzled by is this - what are they going to do for new content - especially in prime time? The last season of Hot Rod Garage is winding down now. Two previous unseen episodes of season 9 of Roadkill Garage were shown on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. There are still 4 unaired episodes of RKG left. The last season of Faster With Newbern and Cotten has yet to air. After that, there are no more new Motortrend produced shows left to air.

I expect independently produced shows like Graveyard Carz, My Classic Car, Truck U, etc. to continue. However, new prime time shows appear to be "thin" at best. I can only take so much reruns of Iron Resurrection, Fantomworks, Bitchin Rides, etc. No Prep Kings and Street Outlaws are now on the boring list.

I heard today that yet another rendition of Orange County Choppers will air in the spring. It will not have anything to do with Paul Jr either. OCC is now in Clearwater Florida and not New York. So I think this show should be left dead and buried. This horse is dead and should no be given any more life support.

Yeah that was such a shame when Roadkill and other Motortrend shows went away. Used to watch it all the time on Discovery Velocity. I remember I was also getting into Roadworthy Rescues, and they were showing the second (and final) season of that show on tv just before the transisiton of Discovery Velocity to CTV Speed (bullsh*t channel by the way). Late in December I watched the part 1 of that episode where he fixed up I think it was a Travellall, in order to tow a '67 Thunderbird back to his shop, and then in the new year when the channel changed they stopped showing the episodes so they left me hanging on a 2-part episode for a month until I had to find part 2 and the rest of the season on youtube. I'll have to have a look at those videos you posted there, Frosty, as I am curious as to what happened to the cars. I just don't get why they can't at least show re-runs on tv anymore.

I'm still occasionally getting new to me HotRod garage, old Roadworthy garage, some Roadkill and RoadKill garage on Motortrend channel. Street Outlaws are still reruns on Discovery, Gas Monkee reruns are still on History channel. Besides all the shakeups on our fav channels, lost MAVTV Damnit (which carried every vehicle that could be raced from boats to roadracing to Bike racing, drag racing, 4 wheelers, side X sides, Monstertrucks, dirtbikes, Indycar. Mudracing, The channel has switched to RacerTV. They have still carried the drag racing finals in Australian Drag racing. D I still have Volleyball withdrawls but VISE channel is now covering Pro Vball. MLV- Major league Vball. A first for regular weekly coverage of my sport.
