It would appear that GM is considering reviving a Pontiac nameplate as a possible future Chevrolet truck. Seems like GM has files a trademark application for the Montana name.

C'mon - you know there is un-written rule that all trucks and SUVs have to have a rugged, manly, outdoorsy name. So we've had Cheyenne, Tahoe, Yukon, Colorado, Canyon, Trailblazer, Blazer, Sierra, Acadia, Terrain, Savanna, "Denali". Competitors have Dakota, RAM, Durango, Cherokee, Wrangler, and Tundra, need I go on?

I dare any manufacturer to name a vehicle Teton or Grand Teton - since it literally is an Anglicized French word for tits/breasts thus named by the 19th-century French-speaking fur trappers who first made it to the Jackson Hole valley. But I digress......

So GM is recycling the Montana name from Pontiac. GMC re-used the Safari name on the G-Van. 

The S10/S15 platform is dead man, let it go. Although they can bring back the Syclone or Typhoon any time, IMO.
