  1. Mucho gracious FP!! And congrats to the others. Oh and a special thanks to ringo for dealing with my AMAZING (sarcasm) computer skillz.
  2. Nice cars. I absolutely love Bonnevilles. I wanted a GXP, but when I couldn't find one I settled on my GTP. I like the SSEI too, but I've never been a big fan of the front bumpers. If I had one I'd throw a SLE front bumper on the front, but that's just me. And I can't tell, but did you clear your upper tail lights? I thought SSEI's always had the orange, and the GXP was the only trim with clear until 05 with the SLE. Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong?
  3. Oh this is tough, do I go with the awesomeness of the old school, or do I stay loyal to my gen GP? Decisions decisions...
  4. Then I'm not sure what the differences in our cars is. I'm surprised neither this site or the other Pontiac forum I'm a part of has a thread that either links to a VIN decoder or decodes the VIN within the thread itself.
  5. Not quite sure which ones I'm missing, I know I don't have a passenger side heated seat. And the site was www.compnine.com but when I went to the site to copy the url it said that the site has been shut down. There's gotta be more sites that break down the vin.
  6. Funny thing is I wanted to know that too, so I looked around and found this: (goes to copy paste site). NOOOOO!!! I had this site that you typed in your vin and it breaks it down for you, telling you production numbers. According to that site, my car is 1 of 1, meaning no other cars has the exact option list as mine. I could be lacking options that you have, and vice versa. I've seen other Special Editions, one around here is a sedan like ours, but white. I want to get ahold of the guy and do a black and white photoshoot. And as far as the rims go, I took them of and got 18s. Took out that park-lock solenoid, and that's it, stock.
  7. Looks just like mine. Mines an 01 GP GTP Special Edition. Had 64k on it when I bought it. I REALLY didn't like the rims. Oh and if/when the key gets stuck in the ignition: http://chrisb.users.superford.org/Grand_Pr...k_Solenoid.html. Twins:
  8. Instead of making a new thread, I'll just use my old one. Well I'm back. My rims are all set, they all have centercaps now. Now I'm looking for tires for the 18s. I need help looking for tires because I don't know what I'm looking for. My stock Grand Prix GTP tires are 225/60R16. I used the rim size converter and I've been advised to go with 245/45R18 tires. I don't want directional tires. I don't want the tires to make a lot of noise. Also I'm not going to be going 150mph so I don't need a high speed rating. I want the tires to last at least 5-7 years since I only have them on in the summer. Keep in mind I probably only drive 2000 miles in a year. I'm only going to have the rims/tires on my car from around late April to around early November. I've heard Michelin has good tires. I'd rather not spend $1000 bucks on tires. I'm looking for tires on tire rack. So theres the checklist: under $1k non-directional life expectancy of around 5 years or more 245/45R18 quiet no need for high speed rating Suggestions...
  9. You happen to be the guy with the Lynx and that sweet orange ford pick up, would ya? If so, I remember spending hours looking at your pages on cardomain. I even messaged you a few times. I was the kid with the white Expedition that was ranked really high.
  10. Just an update to members who are following this thread: My parents switched from Verizon Fios to Time Warner Cable. Since my dad signed up in Best Buy, we got a $150 store credit for Best Buy and my dad said I can buy my deck with the credit. A bonus is if I buy a deck from Best Buy, they'll install it for free. I won't get some cheap brand, I want to get a JVC or Alpine, but not a crazy techie model because all I want to do is listen to my music for the 15 minutes it takes me to get to class. So as long as I can plug my Ipod into the deck and I can listen to music, I don't care if I use $10 or all $150. I'm also extremely cheap. I was about to just put my Ihome on the passenger seat next to me.
  11. ^^That's exactly what I want, control of my ipod from my ipod. So is there a USB jack on the face of the head unit? How much did it cost you? And did it affect your radio output quality at all? Gracias amigo/amiga.
  12. Just gunna throw this in with what you said. Yea, best way to learn is by actually doing the work. My friend and I want to enter a demo derby in the summer and with a demo derby car, I'll be able to learn how to weld and learn some electrical too. No, not a redneck, just want to have fun. I got a lot of hate from another forum for wanting to do that. Back on topic, getting a new deck. But my radio doesn't come in clear. By getting a new deck will that fix the problem or is it something with the antennae? You'd think by getting a GTP Special Edition they might give me the premium sound...
  13. Woah, hang on a sec. I don't know what I'm doing. All I can do is check my oil and change tires. Good thing at Installations Unlimited when you buy a deck they do a free install. That's what my cousin did, bought door speakers, tweeters, amp, sub and all the wiring from somewhere and he bought a deck from IU and they installed the whole system for free. A car is better when built, not bought, but if you don't know anything about cars or electronics, leave it to people who know what they are doing.
  14. I got a fm transmitter, its not good. If anyone has seen a Grand Prix radio, its almost the whole console. I think they just make a little storage area under the new deck. Well at least now my parents have something to get me for christmas. Thanks for the help. I'm just going to get a deck.
  15. My cousin knows a lot more about sound systems then me and he said JVC was good. He also says Alpine are good too. Some guy wants to sell me a 160w Alpine deck for 50 bux. He says it's like new. He sent me this pic: Should I buy it? Again, I don't know anything about this stuff. Don't know if that pic worked so heres the URL. http://s1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd511/...1216102328a.jpg
  16. No, no touch screen. If I could get just the little port thing installed under my radio it be great, but I highly doubt they sell just those. I don't need anything fancy that changes colors or I can adjust bass or anything else like that, I just want to listen to my Ipod. Being really cheap would also be a plus. Now that I think about it I should just find a good used one on craigslist. As you can tell I don't know anything about this stuff. Does anyone know the technical term for the type of port I'm talking about? On the end of headphones they have that prong that you plug into a computer, not USB. If my car had a cassette player I could just use the tape I got and a cord comes off the tape, out of the player and I plug it into my Ipod. I'm basically using my speakers in the car as headphones. Sorry for my lack of intelligence.
  17. Yea here I go again... 1) I have an Ipod 2) I can't play it in my current car 3) I want to play it in my current car That enough info? I only want a deck, no new speakers or subwoofers or amps or anything like that. My cousin has a full system in his Escape but when listening to his Ipod he can't choose a song, just shuffle through them. His screen on the ipod goes black when plugged in. My old Expo had a cassette player in it and I could get a cassette-ipod player adapter and I could use the ipod to choose the song. I think its because his system uses a USB port? I don't want that, I want the other plug in thing. Like headphone style. Can anyone tell me what type of deck that would be so I don't sound like a complete moron when I go to pick out a deck at the local shop. God I'm technologically challenged...
  18. I told the guy last Saturday that I'd come pick the car up on Saturday the 11th. I went out and even bought a pair of snow tires and joined 3 forums. I even put the pics of the car up on forums for people to see. Texted the guy about 2 hours ago asking if I could come see the car tomarrow. He goes "uh its gone. A guy came and picked it up. I thought it was you. Sorrie." Furious, confused, disappointed, sad etc. No way I'll ever find a deal like that one. I know I'm crying over spilled milk but god... F***!!!!! Good news is I found a guy with an extra cap for my 18s in Indy, 20 bux. Still p!ssed though...
  19. Looking to buy a set of (4) Pontiac Grand Am GT rims. Must include centercaps. Chrome. No curb rash, rust, pitting, peeling etc. I've attached a link to the rims I'm looking for. I also won't pay a crazy amount because I'm only going to be using them as my winter rims. Thanks. http://www.lakeshorewheelandtire.com/wheels/6533_chrome.JPG 87
  20. I just talked to the guy who was supposed to sell me the totaled GA. I guy came and bought it and the seller thought it was me. I honestly feel sick...
  21. Well then it's a good thing there was a bad belt or I would have driven with the rims on for longer. Since I have another 4-6 months (you never know in NY) till its nice weather again, I'll be getting some hub rings and a set of good tires. Thanks a lot!
  22. Yea, I need to clean up the brakes. As I'm typing this I just found a matching set in indy!!! Guy has 5 rims and an extra cap! Ok, cap issue is done, now to the issue that I didn't even know I had. So my bolt pattern on my car is 5x115. If the rim is 5x114.3, could it still fit on the car? Because I just bolted the rims on the car and drove with no problems. If it is a problem then I'm definitely getting hub rings. (I know, Noob question)
