  1. Got plenty of wood to get the fire going with those rims.... haha. Yeah I was down in Miami beach and there was a 96 Camaro 3.4 with 24"s. Looks so stupid. They were huge and ridiculous, sure I can find a picture. Found it, love that my incredible runs all my photos right to photobucket!!
  2. Yeah some people seem to think that looks good. it's not too bad. But, I think that style should stick to the Chevy Caprice. That pontiac isn't the worst I've seen, but It could've been better stock.
  3. Good luck on your ventures, would like to see you in an SV-6 but let us now what you find :-)
  4. Really glad to hear you guys liked the ride!! They're extremely enjoyable for anyone who owns one. I hope you find one with low enough mileage. If not that fortunate, check into the Saturn Relay, those run the 3900 which is also extremely powerful, and runs AWD. Basically the same vehicle with a Saturn emblem. Wish you luck!!
  5. No problem. hope all goes well and the wife likes it! Heard that the AWD version is a ton of fun in the snow if you get your hands on one. :-)
  6. Yeah that makes total sense. and I could probably find myself an LX9 in the area for less than $750.... good info... thank you again. The decision is going to end up being a down stream turbo. Thank you again for influences and ideas!!
  7. and I love the line up. It's better than mine!! Hope to hear and see MUCH MUCH more from you on the site seems to be that we'll be hearing TONS of interesting information!
  8. Alright so you're talking to the guy here who loves his sv-6. I'm a 19 year old guy and I bought it when I was 17, well, started buying it. Got it for $5400+ tax, title, licensing. In the end I've paid $6300 and I'm paying the loan off 2.5 years early (sometime from April-July) which feels pretty good. I have put a quite a few miles on the van and I've had no... well, NEARLY no problems with the van. I bought it with 111,8xx miles on it. Currently, the van has 142,8xx on it and still runs amazing. I pull a code every once in a while because my gas cap seal is dried up and doesn't like to seal perfectly. I threw an ABS code when I first bought it, turned out it wasn't the speed sensor we all figured, there was a wire that got chewed through by a mouse and just needed a little solder and electrical tape and it was taken care of. The trans -- Including the fact that I beat the torque out of this thing, the trans holds up amazing. I have a small trans seal leak right now, which didn't occur until I roasted 85+ from Nashville, TN straight through to Maplewood, MN... practically non-stop. The LX9 - AMAZING. I was the man who swore to the 3.8 Series, said I'd never buy anything else. Test drove the van and the 3.8 was history. 3.5L LX9 is an extremely reliable and economic engine that delivers power when you say GO! In town, with someone who doesn't have a heavy foot such as myself, the sv-6 would pull 18-19 MPG's. I myself, I run 5w30 full synthetic oil and burn 87 octane, run a heavy foot and pull 16.5 AVG mpg's city, and on my trip to Florida with the van, I averaged 31. I had a code run a month ago, Purge Solenoid. $32 part, took me 15 minutes to replace. Only problem I've had in 2 years 32k+ miles. Interior - The interior lighting is.... well... not to say the least, attractive. Turns my crank, I love how it fades on/off rather than just immediate on and off. Comfort, I'd give it an 8/10, only because I've been in enough Cadillac's to be picky. Guage cluster is sporty, with it's silver background and red lighting with chrome surroundings at the gauges, there's no need to ask for anything more. You also get the driver's info center standard, a classy feature in my eyes. The radio is great. Loud, clear, and carries great features like Auto Volume Adjust when you speed up, Traffic News Search, and you get 18 programmable stations between FM1 FM2 and AM. You get the Info read-out showing what you're listening to and who's singing it, even with CD's that have the song info encrypted. You get a system that runs 4 6 1/2" circle speakers built as subwoofers with seperate tweeters. Sound quality is great. You get a DVD/TV combo built into the roof of the van. Mid section captains chairs with a fold down 50/50 bench seat is great for family and traveling. ALL SEATS besides the front 2 are VERY easily removable and makes a lot of room for hauling. Exterior - Sporty. You fall in love with it the minute you see it (if it's for you.) Coming from the factory with 17" 5 Spoke wheels, the wheels prove themselves aggressive with their size and shine. I'm a personal fan of the lower portion of trim, it's well, virtually undamagable unless you take a crow bar to it. With a low set body and a ground clearance around 5-6 inches, the sv-6 has proven it's sport-van status. Stand about 50 feet away, put your hand out to block the rear half of the van and close one eye, you see SUV/truck. Do the same with covering the front, and you see a family vehicle. Overall I throw 4.75 outta 5 stars at this baby. Get to ride in class, feel sporty, sit higher than most vehicles on the road that aren't full-out pick'em-up trucks, and still be comfortable. My only .25 problem is that G.D. power sliding door. I love it, but I hate it. It moves slow and if even the smallest thing slips in the way it stops moving, goes back the other way. It's luxurious but it's one of those things that you'd think that Pontiac should've improved on. Other than that this thing is a king roller, great vehicle. My God, I just realized I've been babbling for like... 45 minutes . Well anyhow I think this is what I'd call a review. Something I wish I could do for a living. Those guys who write the articles in Car&Driver, Road&Track... what I wouldn't do to host a show like Top Gear. Hopefully I've influenced a decision because I'd REALLY like to see another sv-6 on here, they're amazing. Good luck and HAPPY BUYING
  9. Looking through some summer pictures, can't wait til it's warm again: Cody Street, oh yeahhhh, it's all mine Who says grown men (even the short ones) can't sled too???
  10. Whoever wrote said statement apparently had their smart cap on a little crooked that day. The GTO was right, but maybe add the Firebird, the Bonneville's (not to mention Catalinas and many more classics) were the reasons Pontiac will forever be a part of history, the AZTEK on the other hand... ah'hem. Sad. Just sad.
  11. Purchasing tomorrow. I love this. With a heart. Happy Valentine's day honey... here's something that is basically like trying to read japanese, now plug it into your car so I can enjoy myself.... hehe
  12. I do have to say that I already have remote start in the van... literally haven't used it in over a year. But the only reason I'll be going with the viper all-in-one is to say that I have it. Plus, need the alarm and the remote start is only an extra $100 or so.. I've had the speakers (15" Rockford Fosgate Punch P3's) but due to the fact that I didn't have a nice alarm on the van those subs went buhbye when someone modified my driver's door lock. Talk about makin' a grown man cry, my new alarm will be set so sensitive it'll yell when the GD'in wind blows.
  13. Thank you for the help/links/suggestions fellas. Me and a buddy were talking about doing some turbo ideas a couple months back. I found a quite a few turbos on craigslist that were around 200 bucks. It seems like a great idea, sounds like a lot of fun . I will probably acquire the parts over the course of a couple years, and when I have everything together, I'll get the engine rebuilt and have everything fabbed up, and put them in. Thank you again for all the part suggestions and ideas!
  14. Yeah, no cutting corners, the guy who'd rebuild my motor is a pro. Most any parts would come from summitracing and in the end whether I super/turbo/CSC the van, it will be when I have another daily driver. my first investment is going to be an off roader, that comes next month. then, des and I either getting a 05 bonneville SLE, or an 08-09 G8 v6. Then a house. Then the van will see high cost engine mods. For now, little mods like exhaust changes, stereo, easy stuff. But I started a game plan for the van that's important to me and want to have 100% thought out and paid for before I loosen the first bolt.
  15. Yeah it's a lot of thought/work that I've got to put into it. I know that the RSM is a pretty spendy package even their lowest one is like $4k... I know a guy who will do a complete tear down for me and re build the LX9 for like $1000 including any parts and anything. The ported UIM and LIM I was thinking about doing that this upcoming summer and the injectors is an obvious necessity. I got a lot more thinking to do, but in the end of WHATEVER I do I want this van to be pushing around 250 HP which shouldn't be too hard because I'm sure I'm sitting at 215 with the exhaust and intake I put on. Not sure I guess, like I said... lot more thinking, just need opinions
  16. Good to have a guy there to toss out the facts. Yes I know they aren't interchangable, generally I would just like to find myself a set up for the van. I personally feel like I've got a good amount of space for a poweradder like this. If I found one and had to do some other work, which wouldn't be too big of a deal, I would only have to reposition my power steering reservoir/pump, if I even had to do that. I have already removed my stock airbox and I'm looking for something to fill that space... was thinking of a secondary battery since I plan on running a nice sound system once summer hits, but as you have probably seen in my pictures, there's room there. I know there's not generally a lot of space under the SV6 hood but that's the least of my worries, I just feel it would be MUCH MUCH easier to get a Centrifugal than anything else. If this seems like a bad idea though, what would you suggest?
  17. I saw one of these on a Monte Carlo - http://mymonte.com/discussion/topic/28937-zippers-monte/ - and it seems like a pretty easy concept and probably the SIMPLEST way I can get additional power out of the van. My only issue is up until recently I've never heard of them and also, now that I've been talking about them with my friend who is a master tech, he's got nothing good to say about them. Personally, Because I have nobody to FAB up a lower intake for me to mount that 3.8 Super on the van, this seems like this'd be the easiest way to get extra power. I could purchase the supercharger assembly and also a set of valve springs from summit racing or something like that and basically be set... get a tune (runs probably $5-700 around here) and be set with an additional... what... 30 HP? Doesn't seem like much but it seems better than spending more money trying to get that super fabbed up for the van. If I go this route, the supercharger I currently have will probably go up for sale on here for around $100+shipping, it's already on craigslist for $250. Let me know what you guys think... Chris you're a smart guy, chime in here!!
  18. Well see here's what the problem is: Des has been supposed to be getting this car for... well probably about 3 years now. She finally got it in July, but on ridiculous circumstances. The title: in her mom's name, The Insurance: in des's name at her mom's address because "it's cheaper because she lives 15 minutes away and isn't in the heart of the city," like apparently we are. Her mom controls EVERY MOVE made with repairs to the car. Another problem: Her grandpa has done all the work to the car. Now normally you'd think hey, family, should probably do this stuff right so I don't look like a total fool to the people who see me everyday right? Wrong. Whole front clip is held together by zip ties, the front bumper also held together by zip ties. The headlights go ^><^<>wibblewobblewibblewobble<>^><^. And personally I was a little afraid of how her mom was going to take my recent upgrades to it. Surprisingly, she said she'd like to trade cars so she can drive it now, wishes it was that nice when she drove it 10 years ago (haha she drives an '06 Yukon Denali 2" lowered 20" chrome GMC rims white paint... sweet truck wish she actually meant trade)!! Well anyhoeee, get the car peeked at by someone else and as I told des the day we got the car, The motor mounts are sheeet, the trans leaks, the entire rear suspension is blown so it sags to the ground like the worlds largest woman is in the trunk, and the interior lights turn on and off whenever they want to. So, currently, I put ANY money into this car and her mom gets a tick up her backside and the car goes bye bye. Alright I suppose that could've gone in the rant section but yeah, Des just got a new job where she's making about as much as I do now, (puts us at about $1400 every 2 weeks) and we currently live with my mom. I just got my raise so my income will start to go up, and I get another one (about $2/hr) come Spring, so that'll put us at about $1700 every 2 weeks. We've got basically no bills besides cell phone, gas and my car payment and both of our car insurances, including full coverage on that poor GP. Des just got her tax returns which gave us about $1500 to play with, so we're thinking... NEW CAR. It's a toss up between a 2005 Bonneville GXP and a 2008-10 G8. By Spring when we buy we should have like 3-4000 for a DP and we want a fun sport sedan that has a lot of room and a lot of power. (mainly she does, man I picked a good woman!) She said something about honda and I almost cracked a head gasket about it and I think she's loving the G8's, so.... well, I guess we'll see what happens in the Spring End rant/explanation of why we'd get rid of GP and buy new car
  19. I was just sitting in traffic about 15 minutes ago on my way home and one flew off the side of the bridge I was sitting on and was about 2 feet away from landing on my hood until I stepped on the gas.... haha. True story. They're everywhere in the North Country. But correct, very beautiful bird.
  20. Alright so it got checked out today and besides the fact that I already know the car is a wiring nightmare, they told me everything I ALSO already know and have told Des is wrong with the car (even though the family doesn't believe me, and it's in her mom's name so they make her take it in and waste time to get looked at): Motor Mounts are crap Rear Struts sagging so bad tires rub in wheelwells Exhaust (front half) is rusted/corroded through Transmission pan gasket and seal are junk after the time/money I put into it, it's really sad that we sat here today debating on how we're going to get rid of the car so we can get our hands on a G8... Tax returns are the talk for paying off the van, then early summer we'll probably be pushing G8 power.
  21. I may have to see some step by steps and see what gets used for parts because depending on what the shop says is wrong with the trans today, I may do it. BUt des claims it's shifting weird and I know nothing, so off to the shop it goes haha
  22. Well the original plan was to SC the engine I already have, but.... well that'd be a pain in the back and EXTREMELY expensive so, probably going to put this one up for sale for $100, save up for a few months and get my hands on a full engine assembly with all the accessories and pullies and the injectors. Then all I gotta do is pick up the wiring harness at upull for cheap and also pick up the computer so the car will actually run haha. It will be good fun no matter what, but I guess now, I am looking for opinions from you guys since my feelings changed this morning. Do I buy a crap ton of parts and spend $500 before even starting the tear down, or, sell this s/c for $100, and buy a FULL engine for say $350, spend $50-$100 on a re gasket set and do some work, then call that my engine... what do ya say fellas? (and ladies so we can include Valid in this haha)
  23. Welcome! Check out some of my shots of our Grand Prix, beautiful cars and a nice one you have there! Again, welcome!
  24. I feel like I'm weird because we see bald eagles in our parts all the time aha. Not so much in the city but I spend plenty of time outside of town and they're everywhere. I used to go fishing with my Grandpa all the time and you see them everyday. And when I worked just this side of International Falls (About as far North in MN as you can get), well, you literally see them EVERYWHERE. I must be just odd but they're still a beautiful sight over a frozen waterfall... wish I'd have some pictures of that because I've seen it
