Jim Wanger's Interview - Part One

Featured Replies

A fellow Michigan Widetracker member, Eric White, is the "brand manager" for the Wild About Cars online newsletter/magazine. I have known Eric for many years now. Eric is an accomplished write and automotive illustrator. Eric is also a director for the new Pontiac-Oakland Museum in Pontiac, Illinois.

So Eric has managed to interview Jim Wangers, the honorary "godfather" of the GTO and Pontiac's leading advertising guru during the Widetrack and muscle car years. I have met Jim on several occasions myself and even debated with him how poorly Pontiac handled the TV ads for the 2004-2006 GTO. So have heard some of this information before, but clearly not all of it.

So sit back and enjoy some early Pontiac Widetrack history, as told by the man who lived it.
