05 Vibe Clutch

On my trip across Michigan on Saturday I noticed a couple times that in 3rd gear if I pushed the gas pedal to the floor sometimes (when cold) the engine would rev up about 300 rpm come down and carry on. The car has 115,000 km on it, I tow a trailer with it, and I have raced the car at a road coarse so slightly less life was expected.

I am going to nurse this thing until March so I can do it and not a shop.

What I was wondering if anyone has had good results with Centerforce clutches? The sad thing is I can get a Centerforce for less then that of the factory one.

I've heard of Centerforce and people using them but, I've never heard good or bad. Which I take as, they must work or someone would be complaining. Haha

I am just going to hate doing this job. I am going to swap out a few of the rubber bushings on the shift likage for brass and the motor mounts for a polyurethane ones. I just do not want to do this damn job again. My wife says I am granny shifting right now as I am not pushing the car real hard so I do not have to pay a shop $800.00 to do it,

All the more reason I like autos more. I would not be able to handle replacing a clutch. There seems to always be a problem when someone does it.

I ordered my new cluctch and got the whole thing $109.99 clutch disc, bearing and pressure plate. Sweet now the granny driving begins.

So do you have a shop manual or Chilton/Hayes manual so you know how to drop the transmission properly onto your head? Do you think you can nurse it until March, or do you think you need to hope for another warm snap and do it as soon as possible without giving yourself a self-inflicted snow wedgy?
