Highlighted your problem! lol. As much as I love Microsoft they didn't make the best browser in the world. I highly suggest switching to Mozilla Firefox but if you don't want to here's a list of things that are happening

Could be multiple things:

Virus - run your virus scanner ASAP to rule this out!

It just crashing - I'm afraid there's no preventing this one other than switching to Firefox

Not using the latest version of IE when the website requires it so it crashes

Did you get the new updates for IE8??

Does it happen on all websites or just a few? <- real indicator to what it is.

im not 8 yet. when it happend the first time i was on here. and looking thru new post, right click to open new tab. i open 3 new ones and im about to click on one to look at. but before i get to it, it jus closes. i thought it could be virus, jus havent scanned it yet. ill try that first. thanks.

Alright let me know how the scan goes. I assume your on 7 than? or are you lacking in updates more?

My greatest advice is to switch to Firefox or upgrade IE if the scan proves negative. Might even want to check to see if your Java is up to date as well.

computer downloads and updates by itself. i jus wanted to wait a while on the new IE. and thanks.

Switch to Firefox!!! It has many extra apps that make it amazing, it runs really smoothly, very easy and friendly to use, and is just overall safer to use!

i might jus do that if it happens again. and nothing on Avast and 3 nothing major on Search & Destroy.

Firefox is almost like IE in user controls sense, I recommend it to everyone, as it's safe and fast and can be modded :agreed:

does it have tabs too? dumb, i know.

Think about the way IE looks, exact same, tabs and all, everything IE has Firefox has and does better :agreed:

i actually use firefox as well. i haven't updated to the new beta version but im currently on Mozilla/5.0. Works great. IE 8 has some technical programming issues with the way it transfers the java script. dont want to get into much more detail cuz ill confuse the hell out of you. lol.

anyways, firefox would be your best bet. 5.0 works great if you were looking for a specific version.

Anyone have experience with IBMs thinkvantage? More specifically, the wireless? I can't get my laptop to connect at my house for the life of me. It connects to wireless at school fine, but at home, it always fails. I've played with the setting for over an hour to no avail

what OS are you currently using on the IBM? Also, what model of wireless router do you have?

I can get the wireless at home to work with my other laptop, my desktop, my phone, and my PS3... but not this IBM.

Nope, I just got this laptop from school about a week ago. Router is a little over a year old.

you might have a key on your network. when you see the SSID name of the wireless network, does it have a lock on it?

Yeah

Is your router secured? Does it still send out the beacon for you to find it or did you have that turned off? Do you know the specific IP for the router, which you could use to program into your computer?

It is secured, the IBM knows that the router is there, it just won't connect. I suppose I could find the IP
