2025 Back to the Bricks Road Rally

Featured Replies

I signed up to do the Back to the Brick's Summer Road Rally. We started at a local GM mega dealership (a.k.a. Shea) in Flint. We drove from the dealership to nearby Birch Run Speedway, a 1/2 mile local banked speedway/demolition derby "event center". However, our path was through three Michigan counties to get there (Genessee, Lapeer and Saginaw counties), in order to kill time and enjoy the drive. The drive was 90 minutes-ish with traffic signals and such. Still it was mostly country roads.

Now this is something I was NOT expecting to see. A '97 Supercharged 3800 power Buick Riviera convertible! This is one of seven ever made. It cost $25k over the price of the car to do this convertible conversion. Several Cadillacs were made but since the price of the Riv was so much less than the same Cadillac, most people didn't see spending another $25k for the convertible top. Truly a unique car! Now if I can find one of the last 500 Rivs made - they were badged as Silver Arrows. Silver Arrow was the name of the Buick concept car that became the production Riv.

She is running the best she has since 2019! That’s when I lost the belt, over heated the engine, and blew the heater core. I have a lot of work planned for her.
