1937 deluxe 8 with dual spare tires

Recommended Posts

I recently aquired a '37 deluxe 8 4dr sedan in remarkable original condition.  It's got all the bells and whistles of the day, deluxe heater, radio, clock, lighter, etc.  It also has dual fender mounted spares.  I've looked at hundreds of photos of this car and cannot find any with this set-up.  I see '37  buicks and olds with the dual fender mounted spares but no Pontiacs.  I also cannot find a sales brochure that mentions this option. Was this an option that no one wanted on a pontiac?  Does anyone know of a source where I can find how many of these were produced?  Any info would be appreciated.  I don't know if this is a rare model or a factory mistake!

I would contact Pontiac Historical Services with your VIN # and credit card.

http://www.phs-online.com/

The information packet from PHS will include the following:

1, A copy of the factory invoice or billing history

2. A letter decoding the options (when necessary)

3. A copy of a dealer order form for that year

4. Other specific information for that year and model Pontiac, if available

A dealer window sticker is also available at extra cost.

Frosty,

Just an FYI, I contacted the company you referenced and they only have records back to 1961.  Now that I know this stuff is out there, I'll try to find another source for this info.  Maybe there's a GM vintage library of some kind out there.(?)  Everything is out there if you know where to look!  Thanks for the tip.
