Catalina brake adjuster link problem

Featured Replies

I was putting new brakes on my wifes 1968 Pontiac Catalina and on the back passenger side when putting the last spring on that hooks to the brake adjuster link the hook on the link broke off. I have looked online for two days and doesn't look they anyone makes one for the 1968 Catalina base convertible. I can find all kinds of adjuster kits for the Catalina Safari but nothing for the Catalina base. Safari has 9.5 inch drums and Catalina has 11 inch drums. Not sure what would interchange with this but any help here would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks for the link. See everything but the adjuster link I need. Cant find a new one and haven't had any luck on a used one either. I have spent hours on ebay looking. Called Franks Pontiac and parts geek and several other places with no luck.

This is a screenshot from the Ames catalogue. I hope it's of some help.

Doesn't look like they have one for the 1968 Catalina either. Just 1969 and up.

Can you show us a picture of yours and what messed up?

rock auto may have what you need ?

if this one doesnt look correct Tom, what about taking your broken link to a spring maker and have a whole new one bent up? its got to only be high tensile steel ?

Those are all for the Catalina safari which has a 9.5 inch drum.Catalina base convertible has an 11 inch drum. I need the piece like the one on the left hand side of picture. They make them for the GTO and La-manse and all with the 9.5 inch hub.Dont seem to make them for the full size Pontiac's.

You don't suppose a generic GM (Chev perhaps) part of similar vintage will be the same? It looks like something that GM may have made tens of thousands of and shared amongst many fullsize models. Any brake specialist should have something either the same or similar. And like Kiwi said, a spring shop will bend one up for you.

Thats what I am thinking. No brake specialist around me. Hoping someone here may know?

Took a chance and ordered one for a 1969 Chevy Caprice. It is exact same thing. Works great.
