Frosty
The 14th Annual Charleston WV Boulevard Rod Run and Doo Wop will be held in downtown Charleston WV from October 2 - 6, 2019. Early registration is $25. Hotel, registration, and more can be found at the show's website: http://www.charlestonwvcarshow.com/ For me, this is a show I don't miss. It's the largest car show in the state of West Virginia at nearly 1000 cars. The setting on Kanawha Boulevard, on the levy, next to the river, makes it an ideal setting. Live bands perform Thursday thru Saturday evenings - free at Haddad Park. A free fireworks show ends the Saturday evening festivities, after the drawings and concert. The West Virginia Drag Racers Hall of Fame host their annual induction ceremony every year at the Doo Wop at Racer's Row. You can usually find a cackle fest there too. Frosty
Lucy suffered catastrophic failure not 10 miles from home! One of the new alternator or power steering belts shredded, knocked the other belt off, thus stopping the water pump, causing her to over heat. Antifreeze steam everywhere!!! Someone called 911 and the Fire Dept showed up, thinking the car was on fire. Lucy was towed to a local shop. I’m hoping it didn’t damage the motor or the cooling system. My wife and I got in her Traverse and came down all the same. I’ll still have fun just the same. Edited October 3, 2019 by Frosty

Frosty
Me too Ringo. Depending on what they find Lucy may be in need of some serious mechanical work.

TWO LANE BLACK TOP
Damn that sucks....At least if you're going to have a failure it's better to be close to home rather than 500 miles away.....When the water pump belt came off it probably heated up quickly and you noticed it in a fairly short order.....Pontiac engines are pretty resilient and tough....So more than likely the engine will be OK...Once all the belts are reinstalled and properly aligned.....Enjoy the rest of your trip...... One other thing....If the Hatfields and the Mcoys decide to start feuding again while you're there....Align yourself with the Hatfields as they are distant cousins of Mrs. Two Lane....... My wife and I got in her Traverse and came down all the same. I’ll still have fun just the same. I brought Lucy home last night. She drove well. I thought I was out of the woods. When I put her away, I looked at the passenger side floor board, it looked a tad wet. I can't be sure right now since it was so dark but I suspect I may have heater core damage. I will try to confirm that this weekend when I have time and daylight. If that's true, replacing it that will really suck. It also will mean I have to trash the carpet. Uggh. Sounds like a near interior and dash tear down. Also, I will have to (at a minimum) remove the inner passenger fender to access a pair of bolts to get the heater core out. Some say it is easier to remove the whole fender. Uggh again. I will keep you posted on what I find out this weekend. The good news is I am going to look a possible garage/work shop space tonight after work. It's a 30x50, so I could store a few cars in that sucker! I am excited this could be what I've been looking for. Edited October 15, 2019 by Frosty
