2024 Forever Pontiac Calendar - Entries

Welcome to the 2024 Forever Pontiac Calendar competition! Let's see what the 2024 will bring!

For those not familiar, this is a wonderful calendar comprised of 12 of our members' Pontiacs. This contest is meant to decide who those 12 lucky members are. This is one of our favorite times of the year as we get so many great Pontiacs and the story behind them! Keep in mind, we are voting on best photos, not necessarily best Pontiacs so any and all Pontiacs are welcome .

Without further ado let's get things rolling with some entries! To enter your Pontiac to be in our Calendar contest, please carefully read the instructions/rules below:

Please post ONE picture of your Pontiac in this topic and that will be your valid entry to this contest. Pictures may be touched and Photoshopped but remember, we are voting on which picture looks best for this calendar so make sure it looks good! As well pictures should be high quality and good taste (please as appealing as it is please don't pose naked on your car), should you violate any of our rules or do not have a high-quality pic your entry may not make it, even if you get voted into the calendar. Entries will be allowed until August 1st at which point no more entries and this topic will be closed. Round 1 voting will start on August 5th and last through till September 1st. Be sure to keep informed by opting into our emails!

DAY - MINUS ONE

 

As some of you may know, my adventure with the Hot Rod Power Tour started immediately after the Michigan Widetracker's Dustoff car show was over. Power Tour early registration / credientials pick-up was scheduled from 9-6 pm on Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. From Michigan to Hot Lanta is a 12 hour drive, so I decided to split the drive up. I'd drive about 5 hours - to Kentucky, and then drive the rest of the way on Sunday. If things worked out, I'd also pay another visit to Old Car City USA in White Georgia, a classic car and truck junkyard. Good plan - just things didn't go as planned.

It started by trying to leave Michigan. After the Dustoff, I got onto I-75 South that will take me to my hotel and eventually Atlanta. I got on at mile marker 80. So 80 miles to the state line and Toledo Ohio. This should take about an hour to an hour and half depending on traffic and weather. Let's just say that with 3 major construction zones plus to accidents on south 75 caused it take nearly 2.5 hours to get 80 miles! Ugh! The day was already long since I got up a 5 am to get to the Dustoff by 7 am. 

Driving through most of Ohio was uneventful. Some construction in Dayton that didn't really slow things down. More of a slow down on 75 in Cinnicinnati but again, not bad. I finally made it to my hotel in Walton Kentucky by 10 pm. I had left for Kentucky at 3:30 pm. I was exhausted.....

After close to 7 hours on the road, I made it to my hotel in Walton, KY.

New year, new location. Had many go to the old location and make the 20+ mi trip to the new location.  Beautiful day, chilly in the AM, but full on furnace by afternoon.  Lil over a 100 cars, not bad for a new location.  Justa66, JustaG6, IndymanJoe and Frosty rounded out the Gang.  Frosty left for the Power tour right from the show. Safe trip N have fun buddy.  Will post some pic's a lil later.  If any Forever Pontiac Members were there, this the thread to post your pic's in.

We've just got home from an amazing week at Cooly Rocks On 2023 - an annual event held at Coolangatta, on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

It was our first time, and as I've been told a few times you all love photos, so here's a photo dump of a selection of my favourites from the week.

By all reports over 950 cars and 100,000 people attended the 5 day long event - we entered in both the Early Bird Show N' Shine and the main Show N' Shine, so Miss Pontiac 1961 was right in on the action.

There are a few photos of my girls in here too, just to add a personal touch😉

I have owned this car for 50 years. The engine was built by Kauffman Racing and dynoed at 574 hp and 594 lb.ft. of torque. It has a tremec 5 speed and a Moser 9 inch ford rear end with 4.10 gears. I added fuel injection, power steering and brakes, and air conditioning.

Classic cars have always captured the imagination of automotive enthusiasts, with their timeless appeal and nostalgic charm. They represent a bygone era of design, engineering, and cultural significance. The Ken Lingenfelter Collection is hosting a charity open house on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10 AM to 5 PM at their location in Brighton Michigan. This is a collection of close to 200 vehicles, including exotics. This is a collection that is not typically open to the public. The last time I toured this collection, I met Christy Lee from All Girls Garage. Ken will be signing autographs this time around.

The Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 was a limited edition model that was only produced for the 1986 model year. It was designed as a high-performance version of the already popular Grand Prix, with a sleek, aerodynamic body and powerful engine options.

The most notable feature of the Grand Prix 2+2 was its aerodynamic body, which was designed to reduce wind resistance and improve fuel efficiency. The car featured a unique front end with a sloping nose and hidden headlights, as well as a special rear spoiler that extended from the trunk lid.

Under the hood, the Grand Prix 2+2 was available with two engine options. The base engine was a 305 (5.0L) V8 that produced 165 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. However, buyers could also opt for the more powerful 350 (5.7L) V8 that produced 200 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. Both engines were paired with a four-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the Grand Prix 2+2 featured a luxurious interior with comfortable bucket seats, a sporty steering wheel, and a high-end sound system. It also had a number of standard features, including power windows and locks, air conditioning, and cruise control.

Despite its many strengths, the Grand Prix 2+2 was not a commercial success. Only 1,225 units were produced, and the car was discontinued after just one year. However, its rarity has made it a collector's item in recent years, with many enthusiasts seeking out these rare cars for their unique style and performance.

Overall, the Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 is a fascinating piece of automotive history that is worth remembering. Its sleek, aerodynamic body, powerful engine options, and luxurious interior make it a standout among other mid-80s cars, and its rarity only adds to its appeal.

With the latest release of our community software and Apple finally allowing for push notifications for Progressive Web Apps (PWA), I wanted to create an announcement here of how to do this. 

The skinny on what PWA is - plainly put it lives somewhere between a phone app and a web browser. There are nice features like push notifications, background syncing, an icon that lives on your home screen that goes directly to our site, etc... which are app-like features but it all works off of our website code so we do not need to support many versions of our website but you get the advantages of having an app on your devices. Plainly put, it's a win-win for everyone!

For those that do not know what a Push Notification is, it is like when you get an email and a notification shows up on your phone. When you click that notification, your phone takes you to the email. We now have that for our community! So exciting! Any notification you can receive here on the site can be done via a push notification to your phone so you're always in the know about anything you want.

Now how do you do this? The instructions vary depending on device but see below for Apple iOS and Android:

Although been awhile giving any updates on my 64 GTO project. Long story short,I moved on from my original project due to soooo much for myself to get done. So replaced with current project you see now. Will use Fresh built 67 400 and hopefully 5/6 speed trans. But if necessary I do have a M21 Muncie. Keeping my Dream Alive 😉
