  1. Okay - I'm about to post 2 things. If you're easily offended then skip the next post. If Ringo removes them, I'll understand but we're all adults, right? Clearly, I have nothing Pontiac related to post so I'm posting a coupla gags. Here goes nothing...
  2. I was told between $30 & 50k to paint the car. I'm about to buy a can of paint from the hardware store and some brushes.
  3. What sort of crappy plumber are you? You forgot to put the bath inside. Boy, the customer is gonna kill you when they see that mess. You know, I always wanted an outside old cast iron bath that you could apply some indirect heat to, and sit out under the stars on a cold night and quaff champagne. There are many problems with making that happen, but ya gotta dream. I love the ocean view. Is it big enough for two?
  4. It's a pain I also experienced but you need one of those black things that sit in front of the engine and that nobody ever sees or thinks about. Just like you, Andy, I took mine to some crusty old fossil who had been making radiators since dinosaurs roamed the earth and he rattled off what he was going to do - something about larger internal channels and more per inch as well as more cooling fins per inch. Gotta say - car sits on 180° no matter what and I live in a hot place. It cost a lot but as Kiwi said, once it's done it's done for the next 20 or so years.
  5. I also saw that little puddle of coolant and mine does the same - damned if I can figure out where it's from. Intake, you say? Do you know what's going on and where exactly the leak is? Nice Tempest BTW.
  6. Totally awesome pics, Frosty. I think your 'lady cop' probably thought you were offering to rub the aloe into her. I also would have politely refused you.
  7. Imagine being there looking for a new car and you could only stretch to a Vauxhall when what you really wanted was the enormous Yanker dwarfing it.
  8. I was reading something the other day and they had an article on the Melbourne (Australia) International Motor Show, looks like 1965 or 66. Anyway, apart from the legs on the chick backed up against the Corvette, I also saw a coupla Pontiac signs. There's also some Oriental babes next to a VF Valiant. The one in front must be a fan because she's wearing a dress that matches the Val's grille.
  9. Hi Paul, I also replaced my ancient crumbling rusty fuse box with an aftermarket blade type - checking fuses is nice & easy with those little red lights.
  10. Man - they are GOLD. JustA, take a bow.
  11. Hi Frosty - great pics and great story. I am always saddened to see old cars abandoned and turning to dust but they are definitely photogenic. Some bona fide classics in that lot.
  12. Brake drums are THICK. That metal should in theory outlive us all. Perhaps they had a bad batch at the factory, or as Kiwi suggested, perhaps the bloke who mixes up the salt mixture for deicing roads had a senior moment and tipped too much product in? You might want to get it up on a hoist and see what other delights are awaiting you.
  13. Is the hood underside supposed to be black? That gloss black finish looks really nice on that white, um...is that 'Chieftain' on the front guard? Great pics, JustA - well done.
  14. Beetles were originally made in Woofsburg...just sayin.' Actually, Wolfsburg but why let facts get in the way of a joke.
  15. It's come to this - tool soft porn. Any more?
  16. I hear you. When I broke my trusty Sidchrome ratchet handle trying to undo that massive rusted on towball nut, I took it to a tyre shop and asked if they'd rattle gun it off. The dude walks out with a Milwaukee cordless impact driver and I thought he must be kidding. That damn thing took that nut off like it was brand new. Awesomely powerful.
  17. Thanks guys. I'm a bit chuffed about it. Just when we were all sick of looking at my car all of a sudden it's in a magazine. You know, I wrote the article and I remember asking the editor to not name specifically where I live - just call it far north Queensland, so what does he do - he names where I live and where the car resides. Great, now I gotta sleep with one ear listening to people trying to steal the car in the middle of the night. If they manage to start it, I'll certainly hear it - it's pretty loud.
  18. Not me you fools - girls in skirts. You remember girls - those nice soft things we used to play with before the Pontiac entered the garage. The rumour about me in a skirt is a viscious lie...besides, I haven't got the legs for one.
  19. No, Ditzy just about sums me up.
  20. I would be chuffed to revisit UnZud again - what a magnificent place. There'll be no dragging of the Boss - she'll be happy to tag along.
  21. Oh JustA, that last one - absolute gold. The number of times I have wanted to physically destroy a computer...
  22. I also experimented with skirts off...ah, the memories. No, wait a minute - we're talking Pontiac skirts? Oh, well I tried on & off and I like 'em on. Whew. I messed up there but I think I got away with it and nobody noticed.
  23. I used PUI (ordered through Ames) and they are perfect in every sense - totally faithful to the originals.
  24. Wheels, low, nice paint - perfect. No other mods needed.
