I am right on the edge of parking the Indian in the front yard with the top down, filling it with planter mix and turning it into a flower pot. I put in all new top and window rubber and now I find that the top is sagging over the windows. OK it is 60 years old and my sagging started a lot younger. I cannot find any adjustment to pull it up. There is a jam screw to put downward tension on the hinge above the door window but I have backed that all the way out and  can push the top up to where it needs to be but I need upward tension on the mechanism. I only need about 3/16 inch and everything will work great.

I considered taking the front piece out and putting it in the bench press but that seems a bit extreme.

If anyone has any suggestions I am open to anything otherwise I might have a new piece of yard art.

Dwight would you take pictures of both, the problem, sagging, inside shots would probably be the most helpful. As well as the mechanism? If you can make the mechanism pictures as detailed as you can. You know the articulating joint, rivets, bolts whatever might effect the sag.

IMHO,  like the copper on the feather tips, not so much on the head. Looks too much like a helmet.  Again, only my opinion.

I agree with the helmet statement but it still looks pretty badass. What's wrong with the chief going to the track? NOT A DAMN THING.

I will say that adding the copper to the end of the feathers does add another artistic and dramatic dimension to the overall look of the piece.

That’s why I asked for input! When you’re up close on something over & over you get a little to focus on one thing. That said I see what you mean & agree! Unfortunately I could kick myself now because I had the head all buffed out, but scoffed it up so I could adhere the painted polycarbonate piece on! Now I need to redo the head, so two steps back, but that’s ok! I appreciate the input, truly!

Just a little tuff right now. My wife has internal shingles, ZSH, no rash, which is actually more painful than the other VZV. Take up a lot of time.

    Thank you Last Indian,

    Mystery solved.

I should clarify that I don’t believe that they actually use iridium! Not really sure what material they used, but there are several substitutes & iridium would be of astronomical expense in a paint! Not to mention very very heavy! Furthermore it would not refer to the color as iridium is silver & they are using the irid designation for other colors. Also I can find those other colors designated as iridium.

Hey Pontiac Forever world, as you cam tell by my handle I own a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Unfortunately I was in an accident in JAN. of 2018 and have been rebuilding the front suspension. I got that completed now I'm working on the rear and my GP being 15yo I can't seem to find the OEM GM# 88955412 FE1 Struts the one online GM dealer that had them still listed CANCELLED the order yeah you guessed it because the soft ride suspension FE1 Struts has been DISCONTINUED. So with you knowing the story of me working on my Grand Prix, does anybody out there know of the top of the line struts (not quickstruts) I should go with. GM has also discontinued the coil springs so I'm also going to need the top of the line coil springs as well. I hope someone here can help me.

You can still get this FE1 strut. You will find it as a ACDelco 506622 strut. It actually the same original OEM strut. This is very common with a GM part. What happens is this part fits more than one application. So as the OEM reduces stock the OE sells the part as a single part # for multiple applications.

I was talking with a good friend of mine just before the mid-term election. He's a Vietnam Veteran. He personally knows our local US Rep. incumbent (a Democrat). He watch the guy grow up, was a baseball coach to him, throw footballs in the back yard with him, etc. But won't vote for him now. This is because the US Rep decided to vote for pardoning/giving amnesty to those that fled to Canada to avoid the draft. My buddy feels this is an insult to all that did the right thing when Uncle Same called upon them and served.....and to those that made the ultimate sacrifice and have their names on a wall in D.C.

I couldn’t agree with him more! In 1970 I was to be drafted. The TET offense was in full swing & my draft number was low. I can’t say that there wasn’t any trepidation, but I was ready & willing to serve. I know that sounds easy to say when I never did, but it is true. When I went for my physical they took one look at my knee & said no! Put him on 4H status. I think I had said this before, but if not then here it is. I started as a freshman as a first string varsity halfback. Long story short the third game of my sophomore year ended that very abruptly. The damage to my knee was extensive. In time it took three surgeries to make it right. The draft physical was after the first two & the knee was still doubtful for ever being normal again. Since that time I have always felt that somehow I owed all those men who did go the utmost in gratitude, for doing what, at that time I could not! To me those that turned & ran to Canada were every bit the coward as the one who deserts in the heat of battle!

  6. I would expect nothing less from you Frosty! Yes they did just that! One party tried even then to end slavery the other side used even tool they could to keep it. The first slave owner in this country was a black man! Fact! His name was Anthony Johnson. He came to the US in 1621 as an indentured servant. Paid off his debt, became a free man, was given 200 acres in Virginia by the government for paying off his debt. Bought 5 indentured servants, 4 black 1 white. Make a long story short he sued in court to retain one of the black servants as a permanent slave! He won the case in court & became the first slave owner in US history & the court ruled no whites could own slaves of any color. That ruling lasted for about 20 years.

By far yes Antietam. Yes the carriers, but there are vast amounts of proof that the White House knew of the attack weeks before, that’s why the carriers were moved.

We became a country Sept.3 1783 when the peace treaty between the US & Britain was signed in Paris.

I would encourage you to look up Robert Owen, a Welsh textile magnet! He is actually the impetus that was responsible for the Democratic Party through Andrew Jackson. There are actual documents that show these two met more than once not long before Jackson change the Jacksonian party into the Democratic Party.

FYI, Owen was a socialist & even Karl Marx based his Marxism on Owens principles!

Most poignant my friend! Especially now in this time! I personally can’t help but think, that if those that don’t know the answers to those questions did know them; that they would approach life from a different direction! But that’s just me.

    Howdy y'all!

I recently purchased a V8 2008 Grand Prix GXP, and after some minor aftermarket changes the cruise control and built in compass no longer work. And even weirder, it's not always broken. Sometimes they will work, but mostly not. Sometimes they'll work for awhile and then turn off mid drive. I don't know what the connection is between the two (compass and cruise control), but when the compass isn't displaying on the HUD, the cruise control doesn't work (at all, turn on or anything), while the inverse is also true.

I came here as I am completely at a loss as to what to do, and have tried reverting my changes to no avail.

Exactly what I did in order was first I installed a backup camera. The camera needed a 10a fuse thats tied to the ingition, so I shared the 10a Compass fuse slot since I figured the compass doesn't use a lot of power so surely there'd be no problem. After some issues fixing the grounding wire, it seemed to be working flawlessly. And seemed to work fine for several days (both the compass and backup camera).

Next, after said several days, I got the car tuned by DiabloSport using a T2. That's when the trouble started. On my way to an Autozone right after, the cruise control stopped working. It was working when I first started the car, but stopped about 5 minutes into the drive (just turned off and wouldn't turn back on). After that, it's been on and off. Sometimes working, sometimes not.

I tried reverting to stock programming, but that didn't fix it. Moreover, DiabloSport is certain it couldn't be their tune or tuner since the tune doesn't do anything to the cruise control or anything directly influencing it.

I also tried removing the camera's fuse from the 10a slot and put in the original fuse. That didn't work either.

My only thought is I fried something in the system or harness, or something somehow came loose. I got no clue where to even look beyond the fuse box. I even replaced the Cruise Control Switch's 2a Fuse and that didn't help either.

Any suggestions of what to do next would be extremely appreciated, as this is just not my field of expertise.

    Thanks

Two things come to mind. First, these cars like the “97”-“03” Grand Prix run a 12 volt multi wire ignition switch. This means they have several 12 volt supply wires that feed different components. The ignition switch internally has multiple finger & tabs that make contact to transfer power to these wires. This situation causes the fingers to burn/corrode when you leave components on & turn the car off, then return to restart the car, similar to the way points in a distributor do. During that start cycle it causes the finger to arc across to the tab that has been left on. When this burning gets bad enough they no longer transfer 12 volts. So the voltage can fluctuate & cause your problem. In many cases it will reduce the voltage output to millivolts. To check for this condition you need a volt meter. Go down the steering column to where the ignition wire harness connects to the distribution harness. With the key on, start checking at the back side of the plastic connector the wire clip you will be able to see through each wire slot.

The other possibility, though I doubt it is the body module.
