Picked up two magnetic heaters from Tractor Supply. One is small and one is double wide. The larger one I'm gonna stick to the side of the oil pan and the smaller one just below the exhaust manifold and above the intake. Hopefully they will warm the block/oil up to have it start quickly when its really cold.

Also, I'm curious, who actually follows this thread? I enjoy keeping it as just a log, but I'm just wondering who on here actually reads it lol.

Ahh Allis Chalmers. Orange beauties. Farmall pulled far ahead of them in the 40's when they introduced "Culti-vision". Basically it offset the engine from the seat of the cultivation tractors (Like my Super A) so you could look down on the crops you were cultivating so you wouldn't drift too close to them when going down a row and tear up the roots. Unfortunately, with the introduction of chemical weed killers that didn't harm crops, cultivator tractors became obsolete. In recent years, due to people have more of a green-thumb and the popularity of organics, these old cultivation tractors have made a resurgence. That resurgence in popularity for these 50+ year old tractors is so large that it has actually prompted CaseIH to manufacture parts for anyone restoring or maintain their old Farmalls. Of course, there are also 3-rd party manufacturer that are licensed by CaseIH as well.

hahaha ohhh. Well, in other news, I'm compiling an extensive binder of diagrams and part descriptions for the ENTIRE tractor. I currently have the IH-8 Shop manual, the diagrams and their respective part numbers/descriptions for the Final Drive, Brake Systems, and the "Touch Control" Hydraulic System.

CaseIH has been generous enough to provide me with an extensive archive Unfortunately they don't have anything on implements. So I need to do some digging for the wheel harrow, sickle mower, and moldboard plows. I do have a starting place at least because I do know the plow is an IH Type A-189 and the mower is an IH Type A-21.

After just reviewing this thread I've surprised myself with how much I actually know. I guess my niche isn't exactly cars, but tractors. Still, I'd prefer to post about it on here because all the Farmall forums are just a bunch of old grumpy farmers who finally figured out what an internet is. Also, my passion for Pontiac will never die, regardless of how many old Farmalls I might occupy myself with. I'll never sell my Phoenix

Touch Control is acting up. Checked with the other Farmall guys and apparently this hole in the filler cap shouldn't exist. Someone drilled it for whatever reason and now the system isn't closed.

Damn thing has been pissing hydraulic fluid all over the garage, INCLUDING MY PHOENIX!

Someone may have drilled that hole to vent the system instead of taking care of another problem. Keep an eye out.

That's what I thought, but it did nothing more than cause a steady fluid loss. I think I narrowed the problem down to 2 bad internal seals causing a "Short Circuit" of hydraulic fluid. Would explain the dropping of the blade and why it comes back up when I re-cycle the system by touching one of the control levers

Got my new stuff!!!

I needed a new "A" decal. The one I had just said "A" which is incorrect! I have a "Super A". Plus after doing some research, I found out that my year A had the rare "Culti-vision" decal from the factory!

I also got myself a new Radiator cap. As you can clearly tell why:

And finally, my favorite item I picked up! A Donaldson Farmall Pre-Cleaner! It sucks the air up into a vortex and deposits dirt into the little Mason jar collector.

I think I also figured out what mmight be preventing cold starts. The exact thing that happened to the Phoenix when I first got her: Ice in the carburetor. I can't access the Carb as easy as the Phoenix because its a closed air intake system. I'd have to disassemble the filter and Carb. So, I stuck a magnetic heater to the Carb and after a few minutes, it fired right up! Gotta keep HEET in the lines!

No, that's the.actual HP of the tractor haha. Its got loads of torque tho, it can pull like 3 times its own weight.
