Side View Mirror

Featured Replies

Hello All, Thanks for admitting me into the group. I was a member years back but have not visited the site in awhile. It seems the site has changed and it would no longer accept my past display name and password.

Anyway, I want to add a passenger side view mirror to the Goat, and was would like to know if anyone has any tips on positioning the mirror bracket to the door correctly ? I am not anxious to drill holes in the door and finding the positioning is wrong. I am considering making a cardboard template using the driver's mirror for postioning. Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated & thanks.

Thanks. I can't remember my old display name (senior moment I guess), so I have re-registered but it won't let me to progress to complete my profile. It stops after I complete the info form for the car. Sorry to be a pain.

I recommend finding someone near you with the same era (68-72) GM A-body car with side sport mirrors, doesn’t matter which brand - Buick, Chevy, Pontiac, or Olds. Use that car to measure and/or create your hole template from.

Another consideration maybe to download the Pontiac service manual we have online here at FP. There may be dimensional references for the side sport mirror.

Here is a picture I downloaded from the web years ago, it worked well on my old 1970 Lemans

Looks like "Trim" is left open so it is still seeing the last step there as incomplete. You can click "Skip profile completion for now" if you don't want to fill out Trim. It shouldn't be required so not sure why it isn't saying your profile is complete. Don't worry, you're not a pain ).
