FIre Chief's Car

Interesting photo I found on Facebook. Note how the bumper on this '55 Pontiac is moved forward several inches. Commenters say this is a fire chief's car and the bumper is moved forward in order to protect the bell from bumps. Curious photo none-the-less.

How about now Kiwi?

So it has a Bell mounted above the bumper on that chrome bracket? wrung by hand by the cable or rope going back into the grill? Weird. Thanks for posting it.

Your post got me curious and I found these other Vintage Fire Chief cars.

It might have been electric too Jeff. However, the rope / cable method is what I have seen on pre-WWII vehicles.
