Fake NGK plugs

Counterfeit automotive parts has been an issue for decades, costing OEMs millions of dollars a year! Back when I was working at AC Spark Plug Division in the 1980s, counterfeit oil filters were a huge problem back then. Fake oil filters with AC logos on them were stuffed with literally rags and not a real paper filter element. People tried to sue GM for their engines failing only to find out that the oil filter that destroyed their engine was a fake.

As Joe's article shows, counterfeiters don't limit themselves to domestic OEMs, clearly they'll go after everyone. So it is truly "buyer beware" and a global problem.

We have the same issues with appliance parts. Our water filters are a big issue. when we get "bad one's" we send them to the Kentucky appliance park they are dissected. yep Nothing in them at all. pretty sad as some people need a good filter for drinking water. most all are from amazon.
