Slot cars, anyone?

Decided to dip my toe into a new hobby... slot car drag racing! There is a hobby shop a couple of towns over from where I live that has a scale 1/8 mile slot car drag strip. There are a dozen or so hard core racers that race there each weekend... real nice guys (and gals!). I watched them race and they were kind enough to let me try some of the cars, decided I had to build one. There is no kit, you just buy a model car kit (for the body and decals), a bunch of parts and solder and glue it together. It went together pretty good (except for a few bad words and the time I wanted to throw it across the room, lol!). It ran ok, but I kept throwing the pinion gear until one of the guys showed me how to properly solder it on the motor shaft.

Anyway... here are some pics of the build, it is a Pontiac of course! If any of you all are into slot cars, please feel free to post them on this thread.

Unless you put a ton of weight in the nose, you need them or it will pull itself out of the slot at launch. 🏁
