One of my favorite all time vehicles is a 1957 Safari Wagon. While the 1955 & ‘56 Safari’s were Quirky Cool & would love to have one, the supreme beauty was the ‘57. It was ‘50’s Art! I had its cousin, a ‘57 Chev Nomad when 16 & didn’t know Pontiac had an almost twin cousin, the Safari! Bought the Nomad in 1966 for $300 😂! After seeing the ‘57 Safari wished I had gotten it instead! https://www.google.com/search?q=1957+safari+wagon&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#imgdii=5dYjDxkS5HY6vM&imgrc=BLzxz1Jh9XdTZM

I think we all had cars we wish would have kept and/or wish we would have purchased instead when we had the chance.

For me, I had the chance to purchase a black '73 GTO with a 455 and a Saginaw 3-speed manual. My folks talked me out of it and I ended up the Lemans Sport Coupe instead. Coulda, woulda, shoulda!

As much as I love all Pontiac Safari wagon cars, I have to say that the 1957 Pontiac wagon is the all ruler in that domain. What a complete class act. Cheers.

Before I purchased my '57 Star Chief back in 2012, I fell for this 1957 Safari which was LS1 powered, Fatman front end, and 4 link in the rear. It was up in Northern USA somewhere, but when I started to get real serious the owner got cold feet and said he didn't want to sell out of the States. A shame because I really liked it, but it was not meant to be.

I've read articles that said that the Nomad and Safari are identical twins from the beltline up. Also, it took convincing Pontiac to come on board to produce the Safari in order for the Chevrolet to be able to produce the Nomad. It seems the tooling needed to produce the 2-door station wagon was not justifiable with Nomad production numbers alone, hence the need for Pontiac to join the 2-door wagon community.

Wish I had either or better yet both now! 😂

a little more funny to the story, bought Nomad for $300 in 1966, thought I made a killing when I sold in ‘77 for $1400🤣! Both ‘57 Safari & Nomad are worth north of $75,000 now depending on mileage & condition 😵💫😵💫😵💫
